I'm apt to loneliness and to melancholy ─ and I like it. I like it. I totally do it to myself because I'm addicted to it, to feeling disconnected. It's satisfying. I'm such a freak... and I like that, too!

Oh acceptance, you sly dog, you.

In another age, you'd have likely become a monk.... or a philosopher. That soulfulness is appealing in you.

I am not comfortable anymore with the amount of sex on tv anymore. Everyone is so over sexed.
Yes! I agree, I remember I used to be a fan of Friends and now I can't even watch that anymore. I feel really bad watching it and get uncomfortable. I also liked Grey's Anatomy at one point. Can't watch it now!
But it's all for the better...I feel better without those shows in my life. Hardly anything is worth watching nowadays.

cultural fact: we Norwegians find it interesting that most (?) Americans are upset by sex but (seemingly) have no problems with torture and death (in movies/ games)

I actually find bologna to be incredibly degrading and offensive, and I am shocked, just shocked, to see it mentioned so nonchalantly here...
I've heard about this, I assume it's a food?, from many books I've read, TV shows I've watched, movies I've read etc. but I still don't know what bologna is. By the way, I only learned what Jell-O was long after I had finished reading Goosebumps books etc.

Sex is bad mmkay? LOL I'm kidding.

I personally don't like torture or death either. Notice I usually talk about Disney movies? I mean I know those aren't great but they're better than action movies or thrillers where they kill and torture like crazy.

I'm not really into modern video games either. I like the old stuff like Crash Bandicoot and Spyro. Kid games I guess. I also enjoyed Metal Gear. But I'm not into the really gory stuff.

P.S. Most Americans don't mind sex at all actually. I think only a few Christians do.

I enjoyed TV series like "24", but I also grew to despise the torture scenes and there were many of them. Granted, they were often (not always) an important part of the storytelling, but really less is more and perhaps showing less and implying more would've been not only more appropriate, but also more shocking.

yeah, but why do we (because I too have watched "torture movies") find such elements entertaining in the first place? :/

LOL what does Jell-O have to do with Goosebumps books? Bologna is a type of sausage made from different types of meats like pork or beef. It's not considered healthy or good food. It's kinda like ham but poorer quality. People use it in sandwiches. :)

bologna-against-white-background.jpg That's what it looks like, ew right?

Oh! That looks like our Fritz! I enjoyed it as a kid with tomato sauce on bread, but as a teenager and as an adult I much preferred/prefer mettwurst and other spiced meats/sausages. Thanks, Molly. Yes, I remember Goosebumps books (and other children's fiction from the US) as having descriptors like "his/her legs turned to Jell-O at the sight of the ghost/monster". This was before the Internet was thing. I know, I know. I'm old. :)

on saturday, i was at my brother's house. we were watching tv, and one show was starting. within the first 5 mins, the topic of sex (anything related to it) was mentioned 3 times. so brother was like, "weeeeeee're changing the channel now." we'd never seen the show before, so we didn't know what to expect. smh.

That's encouraging Molly. It's a good indicator of spiritual growth. As we mature as believers, there should be an increasing distaste for the things of the world, and, at the same time, an increasing desire to fill our minds with spiritual food. You will find, as you are experiencing now, that you really don't need to be entertained all the time. Make your time on this earth count.

Sex on TV is over-rated, and very uncomfortable...how do you keep from falling off?! And with the new flat-panel TV's, it's practically impossible. ;)

Thank you I appreciate that! :) You're right I'm not always entertained but that's okay. It's better to be in a quiet place with God instead.

So I didn't sleep much last night. I just couldn't! But now I'm like this in class. And the worst part is that my Professor is talking about things I already read in the book. American education at its finest guys. Teachers don't expect their students to read the book and so they have to spend a large amount of time catching those students up.
So boring.
