People trying to justify watching a certain TV show are ridiculous. There's no real reason to watch almost any TV show beyond entertainment.

"But there's a deeper message to it!" ...Okay? So? It's still a form of entertainment. That's all it is.

I like my share of different TV shows, don't get me wrong. But I'm not going to try to justify watching them by trying to say, "Well the overall message of it is this and that and I just love it!" I'm watching it because I'm bored. It's a form of entertainment. End of story.

The depths of my cynicism amazes me at times.
Sometimes people confuse cynicism and realism. I think this is more realism. And it applies to just about everything we do for entertainment - golf, football, books, video games - I've heard a lot of people trying to dig around for something to make their time-suckers look good. It's something to use up your free time so you won't be bored. In its proper place that's a good thing and it doesn't need to be justified. If it is taking up time you should be spending elsewhere that's a bad thing and it shouldn't be justified.

Not that I'm against entertainment. But call it what it is. If you try to justify it then I get the feeling you secretly know you're spending TOO MUCH time on it and you want to feel better about how much time you spend on entertainment.

Good thoughts lil.

I don't know. I don't generally watch TV or movies because I'm bored. I watch them because I'm obsessed with Storytelling and I find enjoyment in such things. And for something like LOST, it was more than a TV series. Far more time was spent thinking about different theories and analyzing the show etc. than actually watching the series. But yes, you're right. We don't need to justify such things. Just enjoy.

Honestly, movies and shows don't hold my attention for long. It's only if I find a really good show where I watch it a lot.

But, that's usually not often.

I'm totally with you... :D

Sometimes I watch tv cause I'm bored... sometimes cause I really want to watch something specific... sometimes cause there's nothing better to do... that includes my watching of movies, tv series, and whatever can be watched on the little flat screen... and sometimes I'm in the mood for more interactive things... so I play videogames... :D

Starting The Witcher 3... it's promising!!! :D

it's one of my fave movies.
But it's so sad... I wasn't expecting it to be so sad!! :(

It has great visuals... and it's a feast for the eyes... but by the end of it I was openly crying... :(
