So I like to conduct experiments sometimes. my latest one was to see how I would compare (the real me) vs a "very good looking guy making over 100K a year" on a dating site. I let this run for a month.

I used my interests and thoughts on both profiles. they were almost identical except for picture and income.

In the month. My profile got 0 messages sent to me. the other profile got 129 messages sent to it.
I would send a message from my profile to women who messaged the other profile. remember the likes and interests were the same. out of 129 messages only 2 responded. 1 replied "get lost loser" the other responded "not in your dreams"

Now on mr fancy pants i make over 100k a year profile. I had stated I would not travel more then 50 miles away from my location. I had 18 women who lived way past the 50 mile mark. the one that was the farthest away (Austin,TX) even said in the message she would drive all the way up here to meet. several of the others who was past the 50 mile mark also offered to drive here to meet (they were in the somewhat regional area OH,IL,MI,KY,MO,TN)

conclusion from experiment, only looks and money matter.

wisebeardman: And the purpose of this was... to confirm what everybody knows about human nature?

Seriously. I'm not being sarcastic here. I am honestly confused about your goal. Did you expect the experiment to turn out a different way?

Remember though, wisebeardman, they are not being superficial. It's all about 'financial security'. So their actions are justified and right. Not like those horrible shallow men that will look at a woman's face first, before deciding if he's interested. Because it's OK for women to seek out men with money rather than be someone of integrity and commitment and stand by a good man without a lot of money. That's the way God made them, remember.

This is why I questioned the motive behind the experiment. It seems (and notice I said it SEEMS, not it is) an experiment conducted solely for the purpose of having something to complain about. The outcome of the experiment itself was somewhat predictable, so the only reason I can think of for conducting it is to have something to hold up and say, "Look how shallow and banal women are."

Was this a christian dating site where we assume everyone has a relationship with Christ? If not I'm not surprised at the results.
The world will do what the world does. Its pretty material out there.

Just remember...a lot of those women are on dating sites for a reason. It's because they're not having any luck in-area BECAUSE of the way the experiment went - they're being superficial and was looking at numbers and how everything looked on paper. Either that, or they're desperate. Or both.

Just...remember not to lump all women into one group. Heck, don't do that to ANYONE. Honestly, it's distasteful.

experiment may be predictable, but in any experiment results can not be what you expect. this experiment could have went the other way and I still would have posted my results.

With the divorce rate in this world, I'm not surprised by the results. Girls are being raised today to marry rich.....

Where is that prenup thread.

Money is to women what beauty is to men.

Then I must be really ugly... I'm flat broke until Monday. :p
Looooool.... Wow... Lynx.... Um... Not many girls are only after looks... And some could care less about money.. Not all girls are like that. I was never raised that way... But these days, it's sad that most girls ARE raised that way.. :(

Yeah like LittleBit said, not all women are that way. I'm just saying what the majority of women and men think. It's sad but it's that way because we live in a sinful earth. It will never be perfect.
I remember when I first started dating I was the thinnest I've ever been and the guy said "well you're kinda thick but for you I'll push my preferences aside." LOL! I was weighing 120 pounds!

When my brother didn't have a car, he didn't have any girls interested in him. Once he got one, it was like the tables turned. Really crazy!

This is what i was waiting to hear. But, as i stated above, when i man is attracted by a womans looks, he is looked down on as shallow and unspiritual and following his flesh. When a woman is motivated by a mans money, it's because she is just being smart and doing what God put in her.
But when a woman ignores, or even insults a man, because he has no money, even though it's possible he's otherwise terrific, but chases after men with money, without knowing if he's decent or not, that doesn't reflect looking for 'financial security'. That is a level of shallowness that is No different than a man looking for a woman based solely on her looks.

Yet no matter how many times it's proven that women seek out men with money, women always speak up and try to justify it, or say 'i'm not like that'. It would seem the only women not looking for men with money are on this site.

Not trying to attack you personally, Molly, because i know you didn't say all of this. Just making a comment on the typical argument.

If I ever strike it rich, I'm going to pretend I'm poor and look for a woman who will love me despite my poority and then when she agrees to marry me I will surprise her with a flight in my private helicopter. :)

Well now I'm tempted now to make dating profiles in the same nature, directed toward men. But... I'm too lazy. What if someone actually contacted either of me? Meh.

I'm pretty sure the results would be the same.
