Really? Because i've seen multiple threads and posts with people doing exactly that. Sharing their lists. I've heard many stories from people who came from churches that Taught you write what you want in a spouse, down to hair and eye color, personality type, etc... and God will give you all the things on your list. Tons of people have lists like this.

Though i'd have to say that a statement like '... are Often using these sites as a last ditch attempt...' is based more on personal assumption than a fact you can point to. Online dating has become more and more common and popular and very much the norm anymore. Not just pathetic lonely people who can't do any better.

Though i believe dating sites are actually a Very accurate reflection of humanity, at least of the areas which are represented. Just like off line, it seems a large number of men on dating sites are really just looking for sex. Women say they are looking for real relationships, but often make bad choices in who they choose to give chances to, and pass up better options, just like off line. There are those who are out to deceive and use people, just like off line. It seems to me that dating sites just make it easier to see how the world really is, rather than misrepresenting it.

Really dating sites are just a place to go where other singles are looking as well. Its like going to a singles mixer, but online. The idea isn't you click a profile, fall in love and get married. No one is advertising that. It's just saying 'hey, if you're single and want to find someone, come here to increase your chances of meeting someone'.
There is no point in making lists anyhow...you wind-up with the exact opposite of what's on your list.

I do believe what I said - that dating sites are for those where all else have failed. I don't believe I would ever use one of those darned things even if I was alone, it's all false and people lie about themselves...and no I have never made any kind of "man list" - ever.

I think women are interested in money and it's definitely a plus but it has never been that important to me. What is important is a what's in a man's heart.

Dating sites are not an accurate overall reflection on humanity in either men or women. Those who seek a lifelong partner this way are often using these sites as a last-ditch attempt where all else have failed. No one sets out their wants in a list in reality...it just isn't like that, you just meet someone and you know - sometimes it's immediate, other times love grows more gradually. Dating sites are too artificial and direct.

I was never interested in fast cars or money. I can't be the only one!
Although I also hate them I know people who found each other there. Guess God can use anything. Just don't go there if He doesn't tell you to. Where else are you to meet people? Normally in church, but if you have a tiny church or everyone is married or not your age there's no other place to meet them and what if God has someone for you from Brazil or China? Not gonna bump into them at the grocery store. Facebook and on the street evangelizing with Facebook people also works. The rest of the people I meet are not christian and/or married. If you have kids you can't go to socialize christian groups or to the street with those people. It's always on saturday. Dutch christian forums are not christian. People used to meet each other there. They're now all married. Dutch christian dating sites are not christian either. There's only a few that don't want sex before marriage.

And I'm going to CPR + AED training tomorrow. Somehow, I'll find this useful...

Not likely.

I've been doing CPR classes and in more recent years CPR.+AED for roughly 40 years (yes, since I was a kid) and have yet to have had practical use for it.

(of course on the slim chance that someone happens to go onto cardiac arrest in your vicinity they will be tickled pink that you spent the time)

There is something oddly satisfying to have debated someone with bad ideas in the BDF, given up because of the late hour, and awoken to find that they have been banned. Thanks to the great people on this forum; you know who you are. I don't wish ill on the banned individual(s); rather I hope they are given a clearer understanding of the truth.

I guarantee there'll be at least one or two dummies in your class, because there always is..
*raises hand to answer roll call*

THIS dummy likes to sit in the back of the class... (but still asks a lot of questions.)

Watch the entire video. The training and time plus commitment is needed. Even if it's one life

I used to share this opinion but these days I'm a bit more realistic. I'm an introvert; I'm not going to walk up to a stranger I find attractive and start a conversation, ever. I know myself well enough to know it's not going to happen ( slightly better chances of me starting talking if someone has a dog or a baby, but I'll probably just talk to the dog or baby). Single Christians (especially those 30-50) don't really go to church; they are very few and far between and many of them don't have a Biblical Christian worldview (as in the last time I was part of a church group that was mostly single young adults, some of them wouldn't even consider marrying someone they hadn't slept with or lived with because "you need to know if it's going to work out before you commit"). I've also tended towards jobs where I don't have a lot of direct co-workers (and usually don't have a high opinion of the co-workers I do have) so there's not much chance of meeting people that way.

Bottom line, at this point in time I'm much more likely to meet someone who shares my characteristics and interests online than offline. So should I ever be in a place where I feel like being in a relationship would be more beneficial than stressful, I would consider using an online dating site. I've kind of got a top two picked out, but as I'm still trying to get my life somewhat together after living overseas, well I don't feel like I'm stable enough to offer a good relationship to anyone at this point, so I'm not on any sites. But for certain people, certain circumstances, and certain personalities; it's the best thing to happen to dating since dating was invented.

So, floods around. Two rivers overflowed their banks. Going to church was fine, however, coming back, in trying to get to my mom's I wasn't so sure, because two of the exits were under water. The water was probably just a few inches below the highway. Fortunately, the third exit was not that close to the river, so I could get off. Otherwise, I would have just gone home.

Ab-so-freaking-lutely.... Nothing. And trying to relax... Cause stress sucks... And so does life at the current moment.
Sometimes you need that in your life....doing absolutely nothing and taking a breather. What are you going to do to rewind?
