First day of Nutcracker performances - two shows today - in a community college two counties away. Yesterday's dress rehearsal was...intense. Lot's of chaos with the dancers and getting the kiddies on and off stage in a timely manner....which is what dress rehearsals are for, I guess. I'm playing 2nd horn in the show. It's fun to play with musicians of this caliber!
My kids are seeing the first show, as is my dad and his wife. I don't see her as a stepmother because
A) she came into the picture when I was already an adult, and
B) she is only 9 years older than me.
She can be difficult, but I am thankful that they are seeing the show with my kids. They are also taking them home for me after the first show. I didn't expect this, but they said they would treat us to dinner. I might have to duck out early to make the second show call time. Still am thankful.
