I completely agree with your perspective and agree that days off to go to the funeral is a pretty unfulfilling policy. But I can also only imagine how much more often family members would be close to death if you got so many days off to go see them every time they were about to die. Maybe they could institute a sort of swap system where you have to use your vacation to see them now, but if that family member dies they add in the bereavement leave as vacation days.

Anyway, there goes my attempt to be sympathetic. How about just an e-hug and I'll be quiet?

The difficulty in that is that to prevent dishonest claims the employer would require proof of demise. Which then leads to a grieving person going through the hassle of gaining access to proof.
This would be seen as unsympathetic at best and cruel at worst.

It makes me think of the show The Office
The boss says "I thought you were at your sisters funeral that weekend"
And the employee retorts "I said her funeral was that weekend... I didn't say I was gonna be there"

The other day was National Fast Food Day. We went to four different places for chicken nuggets and had a chicken nuggets taste test... Chick-fil-A, Wendy's, Burger King and McDonald's... plus got ice cream. I ended up with like 40 nuggets or something. Whether that was finished is my business. Chick-fil-A was easily the best. McDonald's was easily the worst.

My thoughts today..It was my off day from work so I ran errands..I was blessed with a free meal at a restaurant..I've had lots of extra peace today..Got blessed with a box of free contacts..at least they were covered on my I insurance but I had come prepared to pay..and I feel a serene calm more than usual. My expectation level for more blessings are high. Wow!?..my son just walked up and gave me a coupon from Sonic for free food..well..gotta know that's major for himlol..Well still expecting more blessings..So my Deep thought is..God is this your way of telling me that breaking up my love of 3years a couple of days ago was a A good Godly choice🤔...Well I think so?..and my other thought was how do I change my chat symbol into a real pic..I tried..but something went wrong?
