All 4 have tried for years to come through... The top 2 have came all the way but they're against my jaw bone real tight and are making my teeth real sore..The bottom 2 have surfaced but have no room to come through. Right now it's giving me headaches and ear aches and teeth aches.... lol no fun. Thankfully it doesn't affect my baking skills. :)
I'll eventually have to go have them cut out. Gotta get insurance first.
I will srsly pray for you about this...both that the pain subsides a bit & about God making a way for you to get that taken care of. I was like 16 when I had to get mine out. I remember it was 1K for all four, and we had no dental insurance either at the time. ((hugsssssssss))
*btw...the hugs were free,I'm not just glad because you'll continue to bake delicious cakey goodness either);)

Hey, I think you just solved my mystery Pipp. The thought if wisdom teeth didn't even occur to me, maybe there IS a reason for my random head / jaw - aches. Praying you will get it sorted out :)

In my opinion, kiddo, simpler is always better. The congregation's worship experience is NOT going to be enhanced by attempts at a complex chart, and praise unto God is not diminished by a worship service's simplicity. You are right in that it doesn't need to sound studio-quality, but if you expect the congregation to be able to follow and worship with whatever you guys are leading with, it must be coherent and easy for untrained ears to grab.

Putting the words up on the wall doesn't make a worship song easy for the congregation...a simple and easily followed melody that is repetitive makes it easy for the congregation. Most of the classic hymns follow this structure...the lyrics might be complex and non-repetitive, but the melodic and harmonic structures are VERY simple. In fact, most hymns can be played with either three or four chords total.

If you can't keep it together, dial it back. There's nothing wrong with scaling it back. Praise and Worship is NOT about demonstrating your prowess as a musical team, but about providing an atmosphere in which the CONGREGATION can quickly and easily worship Christ in song. Impress this into your musicians: it's not about YOU, it's about THEM and HIM. If what are YOU (the musicians, not you specifically) are doing gets in the way of THEM and HIM, then you need to do it differently.

Just my opinion.

(And as far as choosing the right keys goes, the original key that the recording is in is not always the best key for congregational praise and worship. The majority of untrained singers will be comfortable in alto and baritone ranges...Chris Tomlin's solo stuff? Not good for that - he's a tenor who likes to use his upper register a lot. Something to consider.)
*sigh* Having to write this for the second time because I accidentally restarted my browser before posting.

Anyways....we are doing some really old songs. Well, a lot of them actually. We haven't incorporated that many hymns yet. I'd love to. Come Thou Fount and Blood of Jesus are awesome hymns. I liked them way before they came back and became a fad. :p

We've also been doing "Set a Fire" and "Break Every Chain." They're simple and people respond fairly well to them.

Yeah, I've realized more and more in the past year that it IS best transpose.

I almost thought about just telling everyone to stop and just do something different. But we'd already practiced and practice went okay.

It's exciting for me to move into my own apartment. A little scary...a little annoying because it's on the third floor and this place doesn't believe in elevators...but still exciting.

I like to take ugly stuff and make it pretty. And, I mean, this place isn't hideous, but it's just your average cookie-cutter apartment, and I have...ideas.

I like making my home feel like a home.

Yesterday, I had help with moving 99% of my stuff in. I still need a bed (which is being given to me), and a couch (my parents have a decent futon in storage that they want me to take).
I borrowed a hammer.
I need to buy some nails.

And then...let the craziness begin.

Also...and this is more important...
God has been very good to me through all this. It's hard to remember that in the midst of all the chaos sometimes, but at the end of the day...I'm grateful (when I don't just pass out from this yucky stupid cold). It's a pretty amazing thing, seeing how He is working through the people around me to make sure my babies are taken care of.
I know a lot of people have been praying for me and my little family...thank you guys :)

Ugh,you poor girl. I remember getting splitting headaches from mine when they were starting to come in. I had to go to an oral surgeon to have all 4 removed in one go because they would have come in all crazy & wrecked my other teeth. I certainly didn't feel wiser before or after. lol
Do you know if yer's are coming in normal,or are they gonna extract them?

I had to have mine all pulled at once too. It wasn't much fun, of course I was asleep but waking up that was awful pain. I was in the same boat as you, they would have ruined my other teeth, actually they were pushing the top teeth or starting too. The oral surgeon gave me a t shirt when I had them taken it out. It said I lost my Wisdom and Lehrian Oral Surgery, pretty funny.

Why are they called wisdom teeth when they bestow no wisdom? All they bring is pain... why aren't they called torture devices ?

With wisdom comes pain. Perhaps because of the pain it is thought you will gain wisdom.

I know that doesn't help. I pray that your pain will subside and you will be left with your wisdom. :)

It was sooo funny when I had mine out. I remember being a bit nervous because some of my friends were like "Oh man,I hope you don't get dry socket..it's soooo painful" I was like "Wow,thanks for that thought..sheesh."
But praise God,all 4 were pulled w/out incident. 2 Funny thing's happened though...like halfway during the surgery I beagan to wake up & could feel him cutting into the bone on the left upper side, and all this pulling, for a split second it felt really painful & then they like must have cranked up the gas or something,'cause after that I remember waking up a little groggy, and the nurse saying that they couldn't believe the amount of drugs they'd given me initially to knock me out & then when I started to wake up they really got worried. She said the doctor had been practicing for 30 yrs & that's only happened 4 times. The other funny thing was they said not to go to sleep...to stay awake for at least 6-8 more hours...well of course I was so drugged still..all I wanted to do was sleep. They escorted me out the back of the building which led out to a deck with like 2 flights of stairs to go down, and this tiny little old nurse who was like 4ft tall said :"hold on to me and the railing"..I looked at her & laughed...and said:"Yer' adorable, but you do realize I weight like the equivalent of 10 of you,and if I hold on to you & fall down these stairs,I highly doubt yer' gonna do much good in holding me up. I'm takin' ya' with me sister!" She sort of laughed slightly & said: "Then we'll go slowly".
Good Times..Good Times.:)

Lil, here's the thing... You are a perfectionist. So am I. :) Sometimes this can be used to frustrate us in the service of the Lord. But He is not seeking perfection. He is seeking humility and pliability.

You are clearly willing to serve. You clearly love the Lord. You clearly have a passion for music. THIS is what leading worship is about, not the type of music you are doing or how well it is played. If people are critiquing the music, they are not listening to the right thing, you know?

Leading worship is about showing people HOW to worship. It is not intended to entertain them or tickle their ears. It is ended to break down walls and soften hearts toward God. It is an offering to HIM, not the people. God looks at one thing in an offering, the attitude of the heart (see Cain/Abel).

It IS difficult to play music with people who don't play as well as you or don't take it as seriously as you do. But, remember this... Miriam only had a timbrel, but her praise session went down in history. :)

Is your praise team spending time in prayer and praise BEFORE service begins? If we miss this step, it will show.

Hope this helps, sister girl :) Will be praying for ya!

Amen,Julz...good stuff here! As someone who played on his church Praise & Worship team for 8 yrs and dealt with some of the thing's lil is mentioning as well as comments from various congregation members, upset when I stepped down from playing the drums. It can be frustrating when you begin to realize that many times people are going through the motions of Praise to God or seeing it as some form of entertainment.I once gave a brief talk before worship one morning (as per request of my Pastor)...about how we (the P&W team) are not here to entertain people, nor are we here to make you get into God's presence...you should all be doing that on your own daily, and then coming here ready to join with your church family in lifting up the name of Jesus. We should be ready to do give Him Praise no matter what..even if there was no Worship team..all of us should be capable of just singing unto God...the music that we "provide" is just a nice bonus, and while it adds to helping other's enter in,it is NOT the focus of why we are here.

That sounds like a quote from the Darwin awards =)

Just make sure to get to a doctor if you start feeling dizzy, getting nauseated, growing hair in weird places, or hearing colors.
