I am going to Kansas City this weekend to visit some college friends. It'll be about a 14 hour round trip and I will be there for a few days. I have the weekend off for my birthday, so I figured I'd make a trip out there since I likely won't have another weekend off like this. One of my friends had twin girls last fall, and I got to make a trip out there then and see them when they were tiny. Now they are about 8 months old and more interactive, so I'm excited to see them and all my friends.

I'm both dreading the drive (I'm doing it all by myself) because it's long, and I'm also looking forward to it. I like driving by myself.

I was feeling antsy today at work, wanting to up and move to South Dakota or Wyoming or something. I don't feel it is time for me to move yet, for many reasons, but maybe this trip will help calm me back down.

You can do it, Rachel! Just don't forget to take short breaks every 2-3 hours. :)
Also, kudos on getting a mentor. I'm sure that will be really beneficial for you. Maybe I too should think about getting one.

Gardening, swimming, yoga, friends, and snuggles with my munchkin. It was a great day!

I decided to do this house/pet-sitting thing for my ex. I'll be there about 5 days. I decided against asking him to pay me for it. I had mentioned it to him, and he was willing enough, but it just seems wrong to me. I would hate to find myself, at some point in the future, left in some situation I needed help with and have to ask him...and then have him say "No problem...if you pay me".

He is, however, providing groceries and air conditioning.

I think I'll be ok. I mean, yes, it's a totally weird and fairly unpleasant situation, but really, I'm a big girl and I can handle it.

Also, I'm going to use his internet to download THE WORLD. Or, you know, just do stuff I can't do on my phone.

I might've just inhaled a gnat.

I don't even really care for cupcakes and I agree with that comment. :) That's along the same lines as the Fun Size chocolate/whatever bars. Since when is a smaller 'serving' more fun than a regular size?

I think the "fun" is had at the expense of the consumer, by the companies who sell stupidly small candy bars...maybe they get a kick out of imagining people having to unwrap 20 of the darn things just to end up with a regular candy bar sized serving of chocolateyness.

Ain't nobody got time fo' dat.

Life is a heck of a lot more challenging without my own vehicle. There isn't any kind of public transportation here. There are a couple cab companies, but without car seats for my little tag-alongs, that's pretty useless to me. I don't have a stroller right now, and my daughter is a little chunky monkey who is too heavy to carry for more than just a few minutes. She's soo close to walking, but just not quite there yet. She's too big for any of the baby carriers I have. Even getting up and down the stairs with just my kids and purse and diaper bag is kind of really a two person job.

I know this is entirely uninteresting to anyone. I'm just sort of thinking out loud for problem-solving purposes.

So far, it isn't really helping. Back to the drawing board...

There is a squirrel that hangs around the parking lot and drive through of the bank. At first I thought he was a rat or a mole, because he doesn’t have any hair on his tail! Just a regular squirrel with a naked tail.

I have named him Harry…because he’s not.

I probably should bring mace. I don't take 30-60 minute breaks, either. I should probably do that too. I drive and drive and drive until I need to use the restroom or get gas and then I'm back in the car.
