How do you fit in a family, full time work, possibly dating, and going to church??

Welcome to CC, Nicole :)
I don't... I only fit in a devotional life, work, church, dating (long-distance), regular exercise, service in three different ministries, time with friends, housework, more than a few hobbies, caring for a house and yard, helping neighbours, and even buying my own groceries. 'Family' just had to go. ;)

A pastor once gave his congregation an interesting illustration of the "Seek ye first" verse. He had two gallon jugs, and beside each jug he had bags of superballs, BBs and sand. In one jug he started with sand, then BBs, then superballs, but he couldn't fit half the superballs in the jug. In the second jug he started with the superballs, then poured the BBs in, then the sand. Everything fit nicely because the BBs filled in the space around the superballs and the sand filled in the space around the BBs.

Priorities are things that need to be established BEFORE they conflict. It is very important to decide what is more important than what before it comes to the point where a decision has to be made which will take priority. Once priorities are established, make time for the most important things. Then make time for the lesser things, and then minor things can schedule in around those.

It is also important to be honest with oneself about priorities. If I say "A is more important than B" but every time a conflict comes up B supersedes A, B has a higher priority and I am lying to myself about which is more important to me.

God created human beings, not human doings!

Having said that it is very hard to fit everything in. Over time I have come to
realise that its not a sin if I don't go to every church meeting, its not even a sin if a
miss church on Sundays if I can't get there.

Its not a sin to say no.

Its not a sin to say I can't work over tonight.

Its not a sin to reduce to part time hours.

Its not a sin to say to someone on the phone, "I must go now but I will speak to you again."
Ive had to say this to some people who seem to want to spend hours chatting on the phone.

Even despite all the adjustments I've had to make, life is still impossibly busy. When there is nothing
else left to cut back, its best to just take one day at a time and also to plan "me time" in your
week if you can.
