Apparently since 1989 :) It has been incredibly instrumental for law enforcement.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cops_(TV_series)
I was just watching that the other day. A cop goes to a house where a woman on the sidewalk called because she said she'd been robbed of $20 by the people on the porch of a house. The people deny it of course and the cop asked how they robbed her. She said she gave them $20 for crack cocaine and they gave her a bag with bits of plaster in it. Strangely enough no one got arrested but the woman now needs to stay away from that house.

I remember that episode, Gabe. When the cop went to the door, the woman who answered said, "I don't sell drugs, I'm a prostitute".

How has the show COPS most helped the law enforcement community, Jullianna? I know it made me want to behave, but for me it wasn't a game changer. Rather, it showed me what I was avoiding. Some of those domestics..... sad, really.

American crime shows scare me. The cops seem to be either very very polite or very very violent.

I just get provoked, so I make sure not to watch the shows :p

A lot of agencies will provide information to COPS and Most Wanted re: fugitives. Many bad guys/gals have been located this way.

It also helps with training. You see what works and what doesn't. And it helps rookies realize that you can NEVER let down your guard. Expect the unexpected.

Bottomline: In God we trust. Everyone else, lemme see your hands :)

Domestic situations are the most dangerous of all. More cops are killed during these situations than any other, sometimes even taken down by the very people they are trying to protect.

Oh, dear :(. Yeah, it's crazy...sometimes I've seen things like a woman who called the police on her drunken bf who was throwing things and hitting her, but she started screaming at the cops when they tried to arrest him. That's just an example; I'm sure you've seen tons of things like that, Jullianna. I know that "her man" is probably all that she's ever had, but it sure does make it hard on you guys when someone is screaming in your face "what are you doing?" or "don't ARREST him!" when you're just doing your job, often at their original request :S.

I don't get it, not one person talking about 'something else,' what's even worse is she could be like God's long lost 'one' for me. She could be my 'two.' This is serious, or,, do I get it allzz wrong, am I looking asleep on this one ?
Hnmm, something else might not even be a she. 'some' does sound like a boy name, no, I only think of 'summer', a girl's name. Hmm, in that case, I' not so interested in something else.. and what a strange middle name, 'thing' and 'else,' is just tooo weird for a last name. hmmm, maybe something else is someone else than i think of or just somethingbelse entirely. Maybe something else means somerhing else, i just don't get it though , all this great grand OP about talking about something else and my green brains are more clueless in The end than hen i even first begun thinking a bout something else.

So , please, someone else, i.know it won't be me , lol, but, uh yea, someone please inform me about what or who is 'something else,' or, 'some thing else,' or maybe 'something else is somewhere else.
Ahh,! I give up, thanks for your help, whomever helps little ole green me will be something else (no,w, see how clear I am, this means 'stupendous,,' 'groovy like lionel Richie,' 'cool as goobers.' )

Soooo frustrating , I'M going to go do sonething else.
Hi, julieannie :), ha-ha, hee-hee, nice thread,

Maraschino cherries, ummm, YUMM!! Can't stand eating lots out of a jar, but eating one or two complementary to a the sundae is the icing on the cake , so to speak :D

Now, speaking of cake, IF julieannie or jilly looking at this they would be saying: But where's the cake? :D

I've heard that from various people from other countries say US cops are mean: I say its common sense.
Be a cops best friend & listen to their every word & be respectful & they'll be nice.
Be a little rebellious & they'll be stern with a capital S.
Be very rebellious & you are forced to remain silent.

I liked cops because I liked seeing the bad guys lose... too many win too often. :(

But if the cops are more violent than the "bad guys"?

I have seen videos of cops using tazers on old people. That is NOT self defense.

That's the exception, not the rule, wwjd. There are some stupid cops, just as there are stupid people in other professions and in other countries.

I really hate it when you exercise your you-know-what off for an hour and a half in the gym, spend the rest of the day with sore muscles and are careful not to eat too much and then find that you actually GAINED WEIGHT the next morning.

Yea, I know its probably just water retention because of the muscles replenishing themselves with glucose which carries several water molecules with it, but I still wonder if its that greasy buttery breakfast sandwich that I ate yesterday morning.
