No, I'm not leaving... just saw this on facebook and thought it was funny.... give it your best shot. 20230604_134220.jpg

"Verily verily I say unto thee, I did, in good charity , invite thee into mine house to visit for a short time, but thou didst come in, eateth the fruit of my fields, drinketh the wine of my vineyards and abide in my house for a long season, till mine eyes were heavy and my soul was troubled. Arise up, I say and gather thine belongings and depart unto thine own house, so that I may be at rest. :D

Well done!!!

"Hence! home, you idle creatures get you home..."

It's from Shakespeare but I think it would work.

Let's see....

Thou hast tarried long and dost begin to tax my friendship sore. Avaunt! Away with thee. Else shall I invite thee no more.

Forgive me I beseech thee, but I must ask of your leave. For I be of tired and weary countenance and doth fade. Depart in good faith I pray thee,.take with thee a victual from my stores, fair friend, if you need for thy journay, that you do not faint in the way. Forgive thine friend, for I must repose. Fare thee well, in the name of Jesus Christ safe passage to thee and blessings of peace from the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost be upon thine house.

You don't TELL them anything... you just smite them about their pate.

This thread reminds me of my pastor. He has bluntly stated, "I'm going to bed at 9pm and there's a lock on the bedroom door. Whatever happens after that is your problem." And he would, too.

That reminds me of Proverbs 25:17, but I don't remember where that verse is.

"Withdraw thy foot from thy neighbour's house; lest he be weary of thee, and so hate thee."

"Out, (dang) spot!" - Lady Macbeth

No, it's not the KJV, but I figured one can't argue with the classics. 😬

Shoot we got some professionals who can argue with a signpost. The classics should be a cakewalk to argue with.

You need to sing this song....

To everything there is a season...
There is a time to be born a time to die
a time to kill, a time to heal
a time to rend, a time to sow
a time to stay and a time to go home....

Beloved of the Lord, discern not thy trespass against thy neighbor? Doest thou perceive thy conduct aright? I pray thee, confess and repent that thy Heavenly Father might, in His mercy, forgive thee.

You might be getting King James and Shakespeare mixed. I just ran a search for "Avaunt" in my Bible app and came up with zilch.

Thanks for the laugh, @Pipp ! :)

Please, let me open for thee this little walled upper chamber, and light for thee a lampstand to dispel the darkness and gloom. This room has long since been empty; for it came to pass here that a king’s bowels fell out by reason of his sickness, and he died of sore disease in this very place. I shall bring thee vessels of water and a towel for thy comfort. Slumber well, and may the pigeons sing thee to thy rest.

(Hopefully, the unwelcome guest would remember a prior obligation.)

assuming the ask to leave is because of an issue in difference, i would say: "we are at odds here & i wish you a peaceful rest & sleep on this issue in time as time will heal us to refreshing minds as we respect our time separate from each other"!

Verily a friend is likened to a poorly fitted tunic. Both can chafe and stink if they are around too long.
