I am married, not single, but my wife and I minister to singles and "about to marry singles". It is no doubt the hardest ministry out there.

I wear a beard. Complete with mustache, the one under nose accompanied with the one under lower lip that swings opposite to upper. To my wife's dismay women in general like it. But, she knows I really just avoid careful shaving, choosing the EASY button. It does require clipping daily wild hairs. It requires new antibiotic shampoos, due to proximity of hairs to intake of food. It requires an occasional barber to shape the whole mess rightly once every quarter year. The embarrassing part is any other lady commenting on my nasal hairs, or the ones curving into my mouth lips, or my eyebrow or ears spouting offending sprouts. I went home searching for the offending sprouts. It requires a very high quality mirror, and extreme lighting to reveal them. Today I think "I am 69 years old. Why should this be an issue?" I will choose to let those wild hairs rage." since daily clipping doesn't make much difference day to day.

But when I was in my twenties and thirties such things did matter more. to ME. Looking back I recognize the wisdom of Solomon "all is vanity and vexation of spirit." has a lot of depth to that. My wife of nearly five decades confirms I was indeed a young man fullllllllllll of vanity. She is happy these latter days that I am today obsessed with the things Jesus emphasized.

So, I have probably gone the longest ever without shaving or trimming short, and have the thickest fu-manchu of my life. I *have* to keep it for at least a couple more weeks...but then Movember comes along. I'm thinking of actually letting it grow into a fairly long fu-manchu just to see how that works for me. The problem is, my facial hair is pretty coarse, and occasionally my skin under it gets a tad itchy and stuff (like one's scalp does when one doesn't shampoo for several days), and I wash my face daily, but I don't think the soap is really getting in there.

Bearded guys (and girls?), how do you deal with your facial hair? Do you shampoo it? Do you condition it? Do you brush or comb it?

Pro-Tip: Anti-Dandruff shampoo that is used on the head, should be applies to the eyebrows and beard. When I moved down South from the Tropics, drandruff has become an issue. Anti-dandruff shampoo solved this.
