*Disclaimer*

I am not, by any means, criticizing anyone for liking The Notebook or other romantic stories or movies.

However, there is a huge gap between story-telling (especially when it needs to be profitable) and reality, and sometimes we singles forget the difference.

Lol yes. When I just met my ex and we went for a walk I was a bit disappointed That He didn't start singing a romantic love song but instead was like: are we ready now? Now I walked enough. Plus He wasn't as romantic as Rock Hudson at all. Lol I was always so fond of Doris Day movies. Lately I saw a program with Rock's ex-wife How they treated her. Wow. I never want to see these slimy movies again. Poor woman. And Doris Day ended up with dogs after 5 marriages.

Even though this thread is old, I'm hoping that maybe some of our non-single people in the CC crowd of today will also share some stories...

Seaoul I haven't been here in so long, I open it up and see your kind post, thank you. Unfortunately my laptop isn't working, so I have to use my phone, it's a pain. I hope you're all well.

Well I'll tell you what this Valentine's day will be like for me. It's on a Sunday, we'll go to church I'll teach Sunday school. Come home have lunch, eventually go to my Mother in law's for dinner, that's what we do on Sunday. It's about love, so I'm spending it with people I love. :)

Last time we went out for Valentine's Day for dinner, we went to Texas Roadhouse, our favorite. And instead of waiting the usual 30-60 minutes to be seated, we waited close to three hours. Had time to go to the mall. They were a little busy...and the food reflected that fact! Never did that again. We only lasted maybe two years after that anyway lol!

When I'd get something nice for V-day, it was taken for granted or set aside and forgotten. Even nice things like glass decanters with heart-shaped candles. If her friends had bought it "oooh that's ssooo gorgeous...thank you!"
But mine just got set aside. Nothing was ever good enough.

Here's to being blessed that someday I'll find a woman who truly appreciates my kind loving heart. But for now I just kick back and get my girl something nice, let her know she's always loved, no matter what.

Hopefully there's someone out there who still appreciates a good man, and doesn't let worldly smart a** bi***es feed the sullen sorry troll Satan "misery loves company"...

I pray you all be blessed with the kind of love you deserve when you're ready. God indeed is true love, but face it some of us need a spouse's love too.

I was married ten years, and I cannot remember a single valentines day throughout that time... I can remember doing things for my daughters, but I dont think the ex and I ever did anything. I know I never bought her anything. But I dont think we ever went out or anything like that. I would imagine, at the time, it was all so cliche so what was the point?
