They are made from/with blue corn :)

Blue corn (aka Hopi maize, Yoeme Blue, Tarahumara Maiz Azul, and Rio Grande Blue) is several closely related varieties of flint corn grown in Mexico, the Southwestern United States, and the Southeastern United States. It is one of the main types of corn used for the traditional Southern and Central Mexican food known as tlacoyo. It was originally developed by the Hopi, the Pueblo Indians of the Rio Grande in Mexico, and several Southeastern Tribes, including the Cherokee It remains an essential part of Hopi dishes like piki bread. So says wiki :D
Amazing, I have never heard of or seen blue corn before. I hope it is not genetically modified. The other day when I was looking at seedlings I noticed vegies that have standard colours now come in an array. You can get carrots in a range of colours as well as squash, cauliflower practically everything. I wonder if the nutrient value is the same? Probably not if man has messed with it.

No, they are organic, so non-GMO ;):D Blue corn also contains anthocyanins, which are naturally occurring pigments found in plants that give food its blue, red, and purple hues. Anthocyanins are polyphenol flavonoids that act as antioxidants, along with other potential health benefits (more health benefits Here ). Blue corn has a higher protein content (approximately 30% more protein) and lower glycemic index compared to yellow corn. :geek: And yes, we have purple carrots, and potatoes too LOL, and yellow tomatoes etc. of blue over yellow corn :)

I'll check the chip isle next time I do my shopping or the health Isle if they are organic. I can't recall ever seeing them as if I did I would have wanted to try them out of pure curiosity. It must be the cat in me lol.

Yeah, Whole Foods here does not even carry them any more, and they did used to

I hope you are able to find them :) They are super yummy! :D

And also a little costly...

But worth it ;)

From the producer: Neal Brothers' blue corn tortillas are made from 100% organic stoneground blue corn. Neal Brothers were one of the first companies to start using blue corn for tortillas. The blue corn obviously provides an exotic look but also delivers a slightly nutty taste and wonderfully light crisp texture. They are delicious on their own but even better when dipped into salsa!

Last night I went into town to the Hawkers Twilight Food Market. It is on every Friday night until March when the hot weather begins to cool. They have about 50 street food vans and it gets packed. Everybody seems to forget about the social distancing. I had beef massaman curry. It was very nice. Alot of different nationalities food to try. Everything from paella, to crepes, vietnamese, chinese etc etc. It all looked great.

I do or at least try to. The seedlings were the ones that produced veggies in abnormal colours eg purple carrots, purple squash etc etc so I am reluctant to buy them and plant them if they have been messed with. I think we should leave things the way they were created by God not genetically modify them.

Yum, this looks very nice.
very yummy.... I was just wishing I had more :) and thinking of making some more
but since the dough is made from scratch by the time it goes through the mixing, rising, shaping/filling, rising again stages, it'll be time to start thinking of making breakfast......
:unsure:what is for breakfast today anyways?

Unusual colors (meaning, other than what you are used to seeing) is not an indication that the veggies have been messed with or genetically modified. In fact, purple is the original color for carrots. :)
