The only time I was asked, I was mortified! I'll explain the circumstances.

I was ten years old, sitting quietly at the table listening to my mum talking to a couple her age who had just adopted a son. There was a lull in the conversation at which time my mom asked the lady: "how has being a mother has changed you?" there was a pause while the lady thought--a pause long enough that the guy thought the question was directed at me and asked, "Are you married?" Confused, I shook my head. The good Christian man was ready to do battle for marriage. "You're a mom without being married?" He asked me. I WAS TEN! The situation was cleared up, but I think I'm forever scarred :p
10 year olds being married is normal in some parts of Virginia.
