They can not make it to the computer. they are still stuck in the traffic jams in Ca.
I plan on taking my boat out to the islands for a few days this weekend. Tempted not to go because hauling the boat in traffic jams is even less fun.
Having spent my life in CA traffic, I find it utterly amazing that I can now hit the highway at rush hour and be the only car on the road!

This is so awesome. The view from our new apartment is a grassy field and colorful trees. In the morning it faces the rising sun, and in the evening the rising moon. The view from the bedroom, in a different direction, is more grassy fields and trees. I open the window and the only sound is the wind in the leaves and the birds calling. I drive 4 or 5 blocks before I see another car. I drive the main highway and I'm the only car out there. People on cross streets or driveways wait to let you pass, even when they have plenty of time to pull out ahead. You talk to strangers and they actually talk with you instead of giving you that look and turning away (or worse). I haven't wanted to curse at a single human being since I've been here lol ;)

And I'm beginning to think that maybe the Minnesota winters aren't as bad as they make it out to be. Saturday was in the mid 40's, Sunday the low 50's, and today the low to mid 60's. I'm in my t-shirt just loving it and all the locals are bundled up in sweatshirts and jackets and complaining about "the cold". I thought this was supposed to be a comparatively warm day for them. If they complain about this, I can imagine what they'll say when the snow starts falling.

The next 6 months will tell...

The view here as far as the eye can see is cheap apartment buildings overflowing with poor, ignorant, unsocialized, practically feral tenants that will steal anything they can from you in a heartbeat. I ran off a twenty something black guy that slashed my friend's truck tire and was about to punch in the window to rip off the radio. He loped down the street like a hyena when he saw the business (let the reader discern) and my steady gaze.

The ghetto chopper flies overhead all night long patrolling like a scene from out of Terminator 3 as it does each Summer (the aviation fuel bill must be enormous) and one of the local gangs is ripping off cars but sometimes they use one to commit a crime and then dump it off in a complex parking lot afterwards. A murder happened a block away... a drive by. They shot right into the person's house in the middle of the night. The ensuing chase with the ghetto bird overhead and the spotlight going was quite loud. I slept like a rock. Doesn't even move me anymore. Interestingly, a gang fight broke out in the La Raza illegal immigrant apartment complex up the street. Apparently some gang members there ripped off a couple of non-Hispanics on a drug deal who decided they wanted their money back. You can't go in there unless you're Hispanic or you'll be robbed and seriously assaulted... which they were. But other than that the weather's great.

Sure you don't want to come back?

That sounds just like Venice Beach. o_o There was some woman who ran onto her roof in just an oversized shirt to escape a burglar in the middle of the day there last week and the dude actually ran up there after her, but the cops came and stopped him before he could get to her (she dialed 911 on her cell).

That would be a wild change if one was use to sitting in LA or Bay area traffic all of the time.
Most of my driving is 70 mph interstate. Till I want to get to the So Calif beaches. Then all that I am asking is that I can leave the clutch out in hopefully 2nd gear.

I do not blame you. Living in Ca and getting a sunburn in December can be just too much.
One could always fly to Minnesota to ice it down real good. ;) lol Just kidding.

Poor woman. Venice is on the beach but I've been through there and its crawling with hard core drug tweakers so that kind of stuff goes on all the time.

And the police are a mixed bag. I have to be honest; most are good officers and out of those who are good officers some are exceptional... people that you can really look up to. However, mixed in with the good and exceptional are the wing nuts. They aren't any fun to run across. They'll beat you on a dime and then arrest you for "resisting arrest" to cover it up. You can get killed very easily by this type if you don't know how to interact with them and that happens with regularity here. But like I said, the wing nuts are the minority thankfully. There's a lot of good officers here and they do a difficult job in poor crime-ridden illegal immigrant and street gang infested neighborhoods.

Yes, I like to believe that most cops are good cops too.

The robberies, assaults, etc... are all standard fare for high density areas but I found this one funny. The usual suspects robbed a typical convenience store but this time the owner's Chihuahua came to the rescue. Watch it run them out of the store. LOL!

These two idiots make Lloyd Christmas and Harry Dunne look like a couple of rocket scientists. I don't own a store, but if I did and these two masked morons ran into it waving a high powered rifle around in front of me yelling "homie, give me the money" bumbling like that, they'd be on ice at the city morgue courtesy of quick draw McGraw.

Now that's gangster... lol.
