The view here as far as the eye can see is cheap apartment buildings overflowing with poor, ignorant, unsocialized, practically feral tenants that will steal anything they can from you in a heartbeat. I ran off a twenty something black guy that slashed my friend's truck tire and was about to punch in the window to rip off the radio. He loped down the street like a hyena when he saw the business (let the reader discern) and my steady gaze.

The ghetto chopper flies overhead all night long patrolling like a scene from out of Terminator 3 as it does each Summer (the aviation fuel bill must be enormous) and one of the local gangs is ripping off cars but sometimes they use one to commit a crime and then dump it off in a complex parking lot afterwards. A murder happened a block away... a drive by. They shot right into the person's house in the middle of the night. The ensuing chase with the ghetto bird overhead and the spotlight going was quite loud. I slept like a rock. Doesn't even move me anymore. Interestingly, a gang fight broke out in the La Raza illegal immigrant apartment complex up the street. Apparently some gang members there ripped off a couple of non-Hispanics on a drug deal who decided they wanted their money back. You can't go in there unless you're Hispanic or you'll be robbed and seriously assaulted... which they were. But other than that the weather's great.

Sure you don't want to come back?
I will be coming back... partly. We're (mostly me, the wife is caring for her mom and sister back home) going to split our time between Cali and Minnersota thru the winter. If it's tolerable this winter we'll look for something permanent in the spring/summer. My wife has family here and that is why we picked this spot. Uncle Stan is going to teach me to drive the combine tomorrow (he's harvesting corn and beans). It's been really nice to know people here as I get set up.

And yes I know there are beautiful places in California. It's just too bad there's no water.

Where I lived (Burbank) there's a population density of over 6,000 per square mile. In Slayton the population is at most 3,000 total. Boy are they friendly and boy is there a grapevine. All I had to do is drop Aunt Joyce's name and the landlord ok'd me to move in, that was my background check. And by the second day the people in the local stores knew I was here (oh! You're the guy who rented Mr. Gray's place!). I've only been here week and I'm already a local! And this has to be of God, way too many things have just fallen into place to be luck or coincidence. More like God-incidence!

Age, when I/we get set up, you're welcome to come visit paradise.

Just got my internet set up and CC is my first stop. I must be addicted to this site :)

Lol, yes well that was before the left bum rushed us with mass illegal immigration and the "African-Americans" (who just can't seem to call themselves Americans) discovered modern street gangs were a good way to curb illicit drugs. In those days, except for a few aberrant psychopaths amongst the hippies such as the Manson family and localized old school neighborhood turf gangs that kept it somewhat honorable and handled things with their fists most of the time, the state was clean, safe, prosperous, and had the best public education system in the nation.

CA's always had lots of illegal immigration, but since 9/11 and the Patriot Act, illegal immigration has been a major focus for the media and consequently, for the public too.

Not really. When I was a boy, CA did a good job of enforcing immigration law with respect to both illegal aliens and employers. There is a reason why the number of Hispanics, the largest minority group in the United States, has increased nearly six-fold since 1970, to 53 million today and in California; the Hispanic population skyrocketed to become the biggest racial or ethnic group in March this year (39.0% Hispanic and 38.8% white the first time that has ever happened) making me now a minority today in a state I was born in.

When I call the government, they ask me if I would like to continue in English and the forms here list Hispanic first now.

My new neighbors:

I don't know where you're living, Age, but I'd consider getting out of there!

My wife's relatives in MN are all farmers, they say they can't get Americans to work the fields. They offered up to $50 an hour but those who took it quit their first day. Seems the Mexicans are used to hard labor, but that doesn't excuse them illegally being here. There needs to be a guest worker program, along with a restriction on how much money they can send out of the country.

Their favorite sentence is, "You know what I mean." They say it constantly. If you ever run across someone that says, "You know what I mean" every other sentence they're intellectually, emotionally, and spiritually stunted. Watch for it on the television programs that go inside the jails and prisons like 'Lockup.' "You know what I mean, you know what I mean, you know what I mean." Somewhere the growth just stopped and has yet to restart. Only their body is aging.

They also like to remind you that they'll "die for this" (e.g. die for the gang and the criminal way of life they've chosen) and "RIP" (e.g. rest in peace) afterwards. I've tried explaining to them that there is no rest in the after life for unrepentant violent criminals and the truth is they're on a run away freight train straight to hell which is a place of cosmic punishment in spiritual dimensions where the pain transcends exponentially for eternity anything in this life.

But they think it's a party place where they can just bang for the gang with a "can't stop won't stop" attitude forever with their "homies." It would be hard to find a more deceived-by-the-devil population than your average street gang member.

Your comment is true. When they are "caught slipping" which means in standard English their enemies creep up on them and are going to either beat them badly breaking out teeth and whatnot or murder them; the vast majority become afraid of the violence and death just like most everyone else.

Here's the breakdown:

Source: Survey Results: Gang member demographics, Race/Ethnicity

Of course, the vast majority of Hispanics and African Americans here are NOT in a gang. The problem with about three-quarters of them; however, is that they're colossally ignorant people going through life in a vacuous haze as if they were born with an IQ of 80 and often with a lot of immorality. Their children are not raised right and the cycle perpetuates.

And, they appear to be completely oblivious that they are colossally ignorant and often immoral people that fail to raise their children to the level of the people they're replacing. That would be the previous generation which grew up to be engineers, scientists, programmers/technology/IS, inventors/innovators, business men and women, lawyers/judges, doctors, etc... paying the taxes to build the nation.

Now they just party, work low paying retail jobs, and live off whatever welfare they can get off the government. If you try to explain any of this to them; they either want to inflict violence, argue with you, or call you a "racist" and blame you for "holding them down." It's disgusting.

Very Sad,
The worst of what a fallen world can breed. Ive heard some join gangs because it is the closest thing to family that they have ever had. That does not explain them not having any sort of moral compass though. Probably not a good idea for you to live anywhere near such a cesspool. if you have any way out.

The moral compass of the nation is found in the statistics. For example, 8 out of 10 young adults in the U.S. favor homosexual marriage but 7 out of 10 young adults in the U.S. state marriage isn't important and don't plan on getting married.

Obviously, the U.S. is going to slide into deep immorality with most children raised amoral in a single parent home with a parent that fornicates through a string of others.

Personally, it's no surprise to me that God is slowly removing his hand of blessing and prosperity from this nation. In theology, we call this God's judgment and it's primary purpose is repentance and salvation.

Unfortunately, people reject God and immerse themselves in ungodliness and then when He removes His hand of blessing over them (which He must do to remain just) they simply blame God for allowing the consequences of their ungodliness to affect them.

They discard God and live ungodly lives and when He doesn't bless them in that endeavor, they blame Him for it... lol. It's madness.
