Your 100% right. I've taken care of my demons in my closet though. I would love to help someone else become stronger. Better them through christ.

This sounds like rationalization to me. In your current state you're going to fall for this talk/text buddy in short order and declare your undying love for her, scaring her off. Don't ask how I know this. If you're not guarding your heart, you'll fall for people even when you tell yourself you're not ready for it.

If you need someone to get closer to and share your struggles with, a female friend is also probably not the best choice to begin with. Christian men who will talk about feelings without running for the nearest exit are rare, but we do exist. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that like 98 percent of guys out there, there are struggles you have or have had that you do not want to talk to a woman about because regardless of how well you have them under control, she may feel the need to stand behind a piece of lead lined glass in your presence from that point forwards.

You need male Christian friends to talk to about what's eating at you. You can't just go straight to a relationship and say oop okay I'm covered now, I have someone to talk to. A good relationship takes time to foster and grow, many many months. Conversely, because there is no physical attraction and no desire for marriage tied up in it, a friendship with a strong Christian of the same sex can go into a place of mutual support much more quickly.

By remaining single and not dating out of a place of desperation or hurt you have an opportunity to become stronger in Christ than many of the men who are within the church today. Trade in your sword of the spirit for one a few sizes bigger. Put your big boy pants on and pound your chest, and let out a roar that shakes the walls. Then you can become a man who will truly qualify as the spiritual head of the household later on in life when you get married.
