RoboOp doesn't usually post in this forum. as far as i know, he still owns CC.com. but then, apparently i know nothing.

i don't think my statement of opinion was really deserving of such snarky and sarcastic responses.
Oh I thought 1stillwaters owned it, but I think you're right.

I'm just an admin. I don't own the site or anything. Singles can talk about atheism too.

well, i don't agree that the post in which i suppose the big discussion was already going on belongs in this forum either, whomever started it, mod or otherwise.

carry on, or whatever.

One good opinion is usually met by another. :) Carry on, or whatever. :D

Seriously, I was just interested in asking the people with beliefs other than Christianity why they choose to spend their free time here. As already mentioned, I find that many times, people with differing beliefs make me want to further study what I myself profess to believe to make sure I'm not just giving cookie-cutter answers.

I think it's always important that we, especially as Christians, are respectful in our approach to people of other beliefs. You never know why they may have them, or if God is opening the door to their hearts.

Two stories I've heard from people that I will never forget was an older woman who subscribed to a pagan religion (I personally see only two belief systems--believing in Christ as your Savior or not believing Him as your Savior) because as a child, she had suffered abuse by a much older Christian relative. The entire family, deeply religious, told her she was either imagining things or must have "led him on"--she was 5 years old at the time. She said she believed in what she did now because her "new religion" empowered women.

Another story I heard was of a man whose most prominent memory of church was the "glittering cross around the priest's neck that sparkled in the light" every time the priest abused him.

We think of the cross as a symbol of relief and the love of God--for some, it's an object of horrible memories. Of course, some Christians have gone through the same and never lost their faith... but I try to remember that sometimes people have beliefs that are very different from ours not because they're somehow trying to cause trouble, but because they've gone through some terrible things--at the hands of people who claimed to be Christians (hence the note about goblins who wear crosses in my signature.)

you may as well have just flipped me off there. you might want to consider being respectful of people in general before you start talking about being respectful towards people who hold opposing views.

First off let me start by asking a question,, Why is it that when we as people of God see something that is clearly not of God.. Something that is counter productive to the KIngdom, and we rebuke it and say "NO!! I WILL NOT STAND FOR THAT!!'' Right away, people jump up and say that we are casting stones, that we are judging. NO! that's a lie and I'm not having it! What are we gonna do next... start apologizing to the devil for rebuking him?? "Devil.. i'm sorry i hurt your feelings' It's time for the people of God to start standing up for what is right.

While I absolutely agree that we should stand for the Truth, we need to keep in mind that, when we do, divisive spirits can enter the fray as well, clouding our thinking and blocking our love for one another. We're seeing that among us, beloved. Remember who we are to one another in Him. :)

It wasn't anything personal. I was just surprised to see some of the comments made when I thought I'd addressed it in my first post, but perhaps I was wrong. I guess I was just being a bit lazy instead of wanting to restate what I'd said right off the bat.

Sorry for all the controversy, folks. As I'd said in my original post, my only reason for this thread was to ask the people of other beliefs why they choose to hang out on a Christian site. I didn't mean for the rest of this to happen... it's exactly what I'd hoped to avoid.

My apologies, but I did find many of the answers to be interesting. Thanks!

Thanks so much, Jullianna.

Just Ed and Dude (and anyone else I may have blatantly or inadvertently offended), I do sincerely apologize to you. I came across as rude and harsh, and for that, I am very sorry.

My purpose was never to offend anyone on the site and I am truly sorry. I also thank you guys for your honest feedback and will take what you've said to heart. I've read all the posts here and really appreciate everyone's choosing to take the time to answer.

I was listening to a conversation about this very thing in chat earlier today and it hit me that maybe some atheists come here in search of the real deal. Maybe they are searching for those who've actually had that heart to heart meeting with Christ and are in the process of being re-made into His likeness. The scriptures DO say that narrow is the way and few there be than find it, you know? There are so many out there who call themselves by His name because they either 'grew up in the church" or think they are christians by osmosis..."mommy and daddy were so... I guess I am too" types, who may know the the scriptures, but not the One they present.

The thing I'm trying to remember is that I was just as lost as an atheist before I had that meeting with the Lord. He died for them as much as He died for me. I once had a strong spirit of rebellion as well. It's very humbling to look at in that light and it should call us to patience and compassion, both with those who don't know Him as well as our sibs in Christ.

I guess by 'Christian chat line,' you mean cc room. Anyway, that' s just clarification, for my own sake if nobody else.'s. So......I think people not believing there is a God coming to this room are 'seekers,' like Juliana (you rebel, lol ) said in so many words. Why else are they on here but ' that' or this....trying to unconvince people of our great creating omniscient omni-present in-the-feigning God being really real today, yesterday, and, forevermore.? Josh McDowekl is a great apologetic author, proving Christ I've read or Les Strobe in The Case For Christ. My favorite historical proving ground that Christ really lived was confirmed right when Dead Sea Scrolls were found in a Israeli cave , dated from different times/periods of history . Amazing how same biblical content could be written . Miraculous! But, all that said, what is my knowing proof of God's existence ? It is how He every single day does things for me -when I let Him lead-, the power of my God is so great in my personal relationship life with Him :)

I am an on again off again Christian. I think it's normal because I am experiencing the University life and learning about new things all the time. I believe that all this will ultimately make me the best Christian that I could possibly be. My parents played a very passive role in my religious upbringing. I was just expected to follow in their footsteps and never question anything. They paid attention to their religious growth, but never mine. I don't blame them. They are great parents nevertheless.

That's why I come to CC. I get to read thoughts from other Christian fellows that constantly challenge my view of the world. I learn so many new things. It actually encourages me to open the Bible and learn about it more. There are so many verses that I have adapted to my life now, some of them which I found after they were quoted by various people on this site. I am sure that not every atheist/agnostic/confused person is not as open minded as I am on this subject, but by being rude to them or not giving them a chance could discourage them from getting to know Christianity. They might be looking for answers and you might just be able to help them.

I wasn't't trying to be funny at all, so, I know who you weren't't talking to. Me. And a rule of thumb for funny things here said in this thread I think should be seriously thought out as Atheism is a serious thing. John 3:16 simply says what we need to do for eternal life and if an atheist does not believe in a God then it's important that this is pointed out to 'them' in a very serious way, P_R :)

Yeah Im fully aware Im going straight to hell, and it has been pointed out to me in numerous fashions serious, comical, polite and rude ways rude ones are the best they generally involve a hillbilly accent and the the phrases,"Fag", "Fag Enabler" and "heathen scum" placed sporadically throughout the conversation. Its okay Im going to be buried with a bag of marshamllows and a toasting fork, mmmmhmmm.

True love can only be experienced in and through Christ. The atheist can not know or understand waht love is unless he opens to Christ

How sad is life without truth and without true love. Internal Love!
