I agree, Powemm. Sometimes we say "I want to help", but we ignore what we were given to do...I wonder how many times God's going to say to someone someday, "I DID give you someone to help. You simply decided that they weren't important enough." Or, perhaps we were hoping that they'd start telling us about their life before we said anything to them at all, or ask us first what makes us so different from all the other people. When that happens, great, but I think that many people don't realize that simply starting a conversation with someone will often give them a chance to share more. Especially when the other person is younger; SO many children and teenagers these days are taken care of physically, but not spiritually, mentally or emotionally. They'll REALLY often jump at the chance for a friend, especially on the internet. If we'd only just listen and do as we are led..... I agree, it's great to have God point out to you someone who needs help, rather than us seeking in a "I'll try everyone in the chat room; probably one of them wants to listen". I think we'd all do well to quiet ourselves and ask Him, "Sir, please point out what You want me to do". He surprises me a lot of times
.
I agree, Perk; thanks
! Yeah, I used to be kind of down on the internet, but I realized a while back that it's kind of like almost anything. You can use it for good, or you can use it for bad; it's your choice. The fact that it's anonymous can be used for evangelism for scared teens, or, more recently, a young Saudi man who was SO scared to be here (I believe the penalty for a converting to Christianity is still death for Muslim citizens of Saudi Arabia
). He ended up saying "yes" to Jesus, PRAISE THE LORD
! The anonymity of the net was very helpful in this case
. Back to the original bit, books, knives, television, and come to think of it, even sex can all be used for evil OR good; it's your choice. The fact that the net is so often abused doesn't mean that we should steer clear; just that we need to be careful, that's all. I'm sure everyone reading this doesn't mind the net TOO much, considering where I'm typing this
, but at first I thought of the net as being more evil than it was. It's really a tool, and the end result of its use depends mainly on the user's motives, skill and determination.
