If it offends someone, don't make a big fuss out of it,
just don't say it anymore.

I hate seeing it type. I will usually type out 'oh my gawsh' or something, but i don't even do that often. Ironically, as much as i hate seeing it typed out, i can have a tendency to say it verbally. I didn't notice it for a long time, and now that i do i am trying to stop.

I think people on CC say it because it's so common everywhere. Same with lmao and other things like that. Though the cussing is implied, Christians don't think twice to type it, even if they wouldn't spell it out.
But with the omg thing, i think there is a general lack of respect for God and Christ both, that's becoming prevalent in the modern church. And that plays a large role in this term.

This is truly sticky though. Because we all know that God's name really isn't God. OMG in that context with that understanding could refer to any god really.

Well, not really, you're saying "MY God". So unless you're following more than one, you are specifically claiming 'my' God.

What exactly is the problem with saying it? It's not like your saying his name in a bad way or am I just totally oblivious to the context of it? He's my God, he's your God, so saying OMG if your shocked about something is bad how exactly? Asking because I really never understood that one.

I personally don't use it because as several of you said, it's pretty much just saying God, and that is not cool!
