I find it funny that many of you feel you can't have a good harmless time without being corrupted in some fantastical way. Who cares what the day means to other cultures around the world, do you think God isn't powerful or insightful enough to know your harmless intentions of dressing up for fun and getting free candy, or hanging out with good friends, and that you are not actually taking part in any blasphemous practices with your body, mind, or heart?

If you feel you can't celebrate Halloween due to it's ancient pagan origins that look almost nothing like that today then I'd expect that you cannot celebrate New Years Eve either as it is just as pagan a practice.
wow....harmless intentions. have you not read jeremiah 17:9
It is not harmless. it's like saying to God." hey God i love you and all but tonight i want to go out and party with the pagans and worship their idols of self and candy and oh another false diety sun god I know you know it is an evil holiday but you can search my heart and know my intentions"..but wait what does Jeremiah 17:9 say about our heart and intentions "The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it?" seriously you need to see what this says about out heart, mind and body. there is this thing a old preacher said i really liked and it is good to say it. "is the world crucified to you? or does it fascinate you?" so you people wanting to celebrate this pagan holiday. I ask you is it crucified to you? or does it fascinate you?

great, then don't celebrate, christmas, easter, new years, or thanksgiving,

because they all have pagan roots.

Christmas and easter.....My word do you even know the roots. Christmas is the day our Lord came into the flesh and Easter is the day we celebrate that he rose from the dead....I guess we can see where you stand by calling those two days pagan...now if your talking about the whole easter bunny thing then yeah i dont do that we dont celebrate it like that me and my family get together with our church and we have a sermon like every sunday then we go back to our house and watch the Gospel of John. but wow is all I can say that you are calling those two days pagan rooted....do your research before posting something like that

It sounds like you're the one that needs to do some research if you think that there are no pagan roots to these holidays.

Complete evil! You will be burned at the stake.
*slap slap* lol Don't listen to cako, you're not evil if you're born on halloween. What people here are "discussing" is whether to consciously make a decision to participate or not to participate in the holiday.

lol Sadly, it's not even a discussion anymore. Wait a bit and it'll probably turn into a flame-thread. :(

Well yeah I know Easter has pagan roots. We can just ignore that part and celebrate the fact that Christ rose again. That totally beats everything else about the holiday. Just bask in the love that practically oozed out of him for us when he died and the love that's oozing out from him right now and forever from him for us.
