Last summer/fall I cared for and released 4 Monarch butterflies. This year I have become even more involved. I hadn’t realized it was a project a significant number of people do in an effort to help the Monarch population. (Specifically the migratory population east of the Rockies, in North America. (That migrated down to Mexico every autumn).
I already raised one caterpillar that is currently a chrysalis and should emerge in about 1 week or so and I have 4 Ist instar caterpillars and 1 unhatched egg as well. I’m hoping to find more throughout the summer to raise and release, especially in the later summer/early autumn so that I can tag the ones that will migrate south for the winter.
