I will smoke a cigarette or two in social situations. I'm not a regular smoker. Can I be a Christian and be an occasional smoker. With all the Covid stuff, an occasional cigarette is relaxing.

Just a bit of advice from my hubby who always says " you can't make a whore a housewife". That's a Biblical term btw. Be careful where you look for a wife, you might find her and wish to God you never had.
you made me immediately think of the Paul Newman movie "Life and Times of Judge Roy Bean".....

You can, although i dont know why you would want to suck on 3000 hazardous chemicals that will kill you.

Bible says the body is the temple of the Holy Spirit and not to defile it

Bible says to study to.shew thyself approved a workman who needeth not to be a shamed.... you should really study what goes into cigarettes before putting it into your body.

You can also study the outcome of smoking through resources available a brief list includes cancer (multiple varieties) heart disease, heart attacks, lung disease, strokes.

In reality smoking is like commiting suicide except instead of a quick one like hanging or a gun shot to the head, its a slow painful one costing tax payers billions of dollars a year.

Nicotine addiction is, in my experience, the hardest addiction to break. Why you would play with it, well, I guess you don't realize the risk.

It's a sin to do anything that is otherwise completely preventable/avoidable that facilitates and expedites your own physical death.

Hi, so I know the Bible doesn't say smoking is a sin but I think if you keep doing it then you could get addicted. Thats were the danger is, the spirit of addiction can be a tough one to deal with...

While addiction is a possibility, there are benefits to the use of nicotine and caffeine for some people, and not everyone who smokes becomes an addict to the point smoking would become an idol and thus a sin.

My son both smokes and uses caffeine which helps with his severe ADHD. He prefers doing that then taking Ritalin all the time now that he's an adult. He's just learned to deal more naturally.

While there may be consequences to that in his future it is in the end his choice to make.

Jesus taught how to command health and healing over ourselves, how to live in Divine health. He never sent anyone to get smokes or coffee.
Perhaps out of His compassion he may allow this, yet it is not His perfect will .

I recall the story of the pastor who shared about his first church in CA, the youth would meet on the beach and swim, then a hotdog roast where he taught on the evils of smoking, the next church was in the south, supported by tobacco farmers, where the lead pastor ground out his cigarette on the way in to preach about the evils of boys and girls swimming together.

I've read of the caffeine of a cup of coffee as a good replacement for amphetamines as treatment for hyperactivity.
It's funny how some react differently to those substances.
A few common causes of various hyperactivity disorders are:
-childhood vaccines
-food sensitivities
-food dyes & preservatives
-sugar

Some people find relief by avoiding these and detoxifying properly.

Good Q.

After watching this short lecture at a religion class at Arizona U, please let me know if you can be a Christian and smoke.

You are a Christian by grace through faith. You are Saved that very moment you accept and believe in Jesus and his Gospel.

When you die you'll spend eternity with him. Why smoke at all? And hasten that eventuality?
And poison the air around you and put everyone at risk due to the second hand smoke you expel? 😟

When you buy cigarettes you're buying cancer. All manner of cancer. Throat, mouth, lung, brain. It all just depends on where it shows up and starts eating you alive. Because you smoke. No matter how little.

The only thing cigarettes do for the body is give you cancer, starve the body of oxygen and kill it slowly.

Ephesians 4:22,24 "You lay aside the old self, which is being corrupted in accordance with the lusts of deceit, and you have put on the new self, which in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of the truth."

Why would you contaminate the lungs in your body temple?

First hand, second hand, third hand: With Cigarette Smoke No Hand Is Safe

Stop smoking! God gave you life. Don't give it back like that.😔🙏

Look I get it, I used to smoke a century ago. I thought I was a social smoker too until I was smoking every hour. I cant judge you tho, I didnt write any Christian manual. People leave one addiction for another IME
