Who of you are afraid to die and why?

When I was younger I didnt seem to give death much thought...I had.no worries or fears ect.

Now that im older its a diiferent story. I was first confronted by death 5 years ago. When I held my dead 10 month old in my arms. I was always confortes by the fact my boy is an angel and is with God. But still in my mind I had so many questions...

Then cancer came along...and I was afraid to die. I cant figure out why im afraid? I meam I get to see my boy again? Or mayb its the unknown that scares me! I mean all I know is earth! Sometimes I wish to die because this life is just so difficult...

Ok as you can read...im confused. I just want to make piece with death and except it. After all we all gonna die at some point. By the way I am a christian. Im just on.a journey to be the best christian I can be

Always have a hard time believing someone when they say they're not even a little scared of death. I think either they are lying or haven't given it enough thought. Maybe they're young and death seems so far away from them.

Sorry to hear about your son and the cancer. You'll be in my prayers.

I am living proof that cancer does NOT always kill people. Has your doctor told you that you're going to die from it? If not, then don't just automatically assume that it's a death sentence, because it isn't. I suggest you read my personal cancer thread, below in my signature. Or re-read it. :) Fear is not of the lord, Terry. There's no reason to fear death. What is beyond this world is better than we can ever imagine. :)

In the bible it says when were born again and saved that death loses it's sting. You no longer need to "fear" death because dying Is really just losing our earthly body's and taking on our new heavenly body's and living in heaven forever more with Jesus. Nothing is scary about that, in fact it's exciting. Doesn't mean we want to die, a lot of us still have things we want to do on earth and accomplish before we move on. There are definitely times though when dying seems like a nice idea because it just means getting rid of all these problems and going on to heaven to a perfect place with our savior. The thing is though we will only be here for a very small amount of time compared to all of eternity, its a vapor compared to eternity. We want to Live full and empowered lives, lives that aren't run by the devil where we get spiritually trampled on. Look up Joseph Prince he's amazing (Grace Preacher) he's always lifting up Jesus.

Good topic "fear of death" well there is a lot in scripture about death but the most important thing is understanding what happens when we die. If you read scripture and use logical common sense we know that one day there will be a rapture when Jesus comes back to take back the church to confront god on the day judgment after this day of judgment we read in revalation that there will be a new heaven and a new earth and you be in your resurrected body as for now your body is described as a tent " so therefore it's temporary" we also know that day of judgment has not happend yet nor has the second coming of Christ so what happens when we die? We enter into what's called the intermediate state, this is where the spirit of your body goes to be in what scripture sayes to be absent from the body is to be present with The Lord in a spiritual form but not bodily. We won't get our new body until the rapture takes place and we clothed with our permenant white robes signifying to god that we are Cristians and we dedicated our lives to serving him, that's when we will inter into the new heaven and new earth

Hi TerryGold. Fear of the unknown is a perfectly sound fear. That's too bad to hear about your boy. I hope you're doing better these days with that, and with this uncertainty about death.

I fear a painful death, but not exactly the end of my life.

The greatest understanding of this I believe you can find in 1 Corinthians chapter 15 and second Corinthians chapter 5 also read 1 Thessalonians chapter 4 13-18 it will bring that peace of mind.

Fear of dying stems from, I think, our self-preservation instinct, which is normal. However, knowing what happens after we die, helps lesson that fear.

Ecclesiastes 12:6-7
6 Or ever the silver cord be loosed, or the golden bowl be broken, or the pitcher be broken at the fountain, or the wheel broken at the cistern (flesh body dies).
7 Then shall the dust (flesh body) return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.

I don't think death itself is what worries me I think it's how I die that concerns me. true enough an extremely gruesome and painful death is well not pleasant but the thing is in my eyes we only get one life but we also only get one death. I mean physical death not to confuse with the dying to self and being reborn again.

If I am to die I want my death to show who I stand for I want it to show whose heart resides inside me and If God will allow it I wish to die for anothers sake whether that for his or for another person. Not just anything or anyone can have my life my life is not for the taking for just anyone or anything because my death if God should allow it is going to show his love.

The only thing I fear about death is the possibility of going to Hell. I consider myself saved but I also have a lot of rough days where it's hard to think about God in any way. So I cannot say for sure that I am a good enough person to go to Heaven.

You're NOT good enough, so get that idea out of your head. :)

The good news is you can't be on your own, and God knows that, so Jesus came to live the perfect, sinless life which you could never do, then went to the cross to pay the penalty for your sins, proving that the sacrifice is complete and the penalty was paid in full.

God's wrath was poured out on Jesus and not you, and now you only need to believe in Jesus to have eternal life. Yes, we all will die, in the flesh, but our eternity is secured in Christ, so as another stated well, death has lost it's sting.

It can be a bit scary if we dwell on how we'll die, but we really aren't supposed to do that. We're supposed to trust in the Lord, and He is worthy of our trust.
(He already paid for our sins, so we can trust Him with the rest.)

It's funny, though, no one ever seems to dwell on how peaceful and lovely their death will be. It's always a dread of some pain-filled horrible tragedy, yet a lot of people simply die in their sleep.

Of course, now I'm ascared to go to bed, lol.

Seriously, Jesus knows about all this. You can talk to Him about it and give Him your anxieties. These burdens are too much to dwell on, so He can take them and give us His peace. Let Him remind you of that empty tomb, and think on the wonders of His love and promise for you. :)

Read that 1Thess passage that someone wisely recommended, and God bless you. :)

Ya the whole not being good enough is kind of a confusion for me, all my life I was told I was never good enough I even think I am not good enough all the time but so many times when I think this to myself I hear father whisper you are good enough for me.

So which are we to believe?

Sorry for the late reply. I didn't necessarily mean that my actions weren't good enough. I kind of meant that most days I tend to just ignore God or the though of communicating in prayer with Him. Mostly because I don't really want to change. I would simply rather fade away with time. I guess that's the best way that I can explain it.
