I was speaking in general moreso than this song, it happened to be a springboard of my thinking and I didnt say not to listen to anyones opinion.

Yeah but you asked "Why should I listen to someone's opinion of these people". I was saying the reason is the same reason you'll listen to someone's opinion on anything else.

Shai's song is good and I don't reckon there's a single preacher he listed on his list that you can't find out is a false teacher with 5 minutes of research.

This is as serious subject that I don't take lightly by any means, there are many offended people out there who have serious offence issues with the church and their hearts are not in the right places when it comes to this issue. So rather than listen to a persons opinion (whom I do not know) on who is a false teacher/prophet or whatever, I will decide that myself and not just take on board what they think because I don't know who they are and what is happening in their own hearts. That is my final word on this.

Shai's whole reason behind this song was to get people to read their Bibles and actually do the research. Did you even listen to the song? If you will actually do the research today and read your Bible then decide for yourself, then it is well. But if all you are doing is sticking your fingers in your ears then going back to whatever you were doing before, then that's no bueno.

No, I didn't listen to the song, I just read the lyrics posted up. As I said I was talking more in general terms about calling people false teachers etc. than the song itself.
The thing is, i'm not interested in digging into these peoples doctrines and finding out if their false or not, I don't listen to them personally so at this stage, it does not concern me if they are false or not. If they are false, how would it benefit me to know this? Some more ammo to fire at the church? General knowledge? To tell someone they're listening to a false teacher if they mention their names? My main concern is that the teaching at my church that I attend is sound. To me it's unecessary and I don't care for it and I will not join the bandwagon. *sticks fingers back in ears*

2 Peter 2:1-3

But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing upon themselves swift destruction. 2 And many will follow their sensuality, and because of them the way of truth will be blasphemed. 3 And in their greed they will exploit you with false words. Their condemnation from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep.
Hi Von! I had not even heard of some of these folk, but yes, we do need to be on our guard, and test everything by Scripture.

Blessings.
