After going through a few peoples posts.. I feel the need to make my own. Why do people have in their head that God is going to judge you for sinning. Sure he might be disappointed in something you do but he won't judge you for it. Its NORMAL to sin. We are only human. I've learned that God doesn't get mad at you if you make a mistake.... He just wants you to be able to admit it and ask for his forgiveness afterwards and to try to not do it again.

I hate how ppl talk like Christians shouldn't sin. ITS CRAZY! Why do you think Jesus died... because we do sin. If it was possible to stop sinning... we wouldn't need God anymore.

If God really was as judmental as people make him out to be.... I wouldn't want anything to do with him.

Its NORMAL to sin.
"Normal" in what sense? In that everyone does it? Sure, it's normal in that sense... but that's insignificant. It was probably normal, in that sense, for a German living in Nazi Germany to hate Jews.

So rewrite your sentence as "Its NORMAL to hate Jews" and tell me what you think of that.

It's abnormal in the sense that we shouldn't sin, it's wrong to sin.

I hate how ppl talk like Christians shouldn't sin. ITS CRAZY! Why do you think Jesus died... because we do sin.
Don't confuse ought with is. There is a difference between what people should do and what people do do.

People talk like Christians sin because it's true that Christians (and non-Christians) shouldn't sin. This is precisely why Jesus died, because we do sin when we shouldn't.

If it wasn't true that Christians shouldn't sin, Jesus wouldn't have needed to die.

If God really was as judmental as people make him out to be.... I wouldn't want anything to do with him.
How judgmental is God? I don't know. I don't think he is "judgmental" at all (in the pejorative sense). But then I suspect that you would look at my view of God and think he's judgmental.

It's always possible that a person creates "God" in their own image and that they truly wouldn't want anything to do with the real God if they ever met him.

I'm not saying that is the case with you, but we first have to make sure our view of God is aligns with the truth as presented in Scripture and then we can say that we wouldn't want anything to do with a view of God that deviates from that.

On the other hand, it's very dangerous to build a view of God based on half-readings of Scripture and our 21st century American sentimentality and then say we wouldn't want anything to do with God that doesn't align with that illusion.

i'm saying its normal because everyone does it. and to give yourself the expectation to never sin again is unrealistic and crazy. you try not to sure... but you always do. My point is that its more important to know that God will forgive you if you do slip up.. then to try to never slip up again.

And yes if God is just some big all holy guy sitting up on a throne looking down on us... judging us for everytime we sin. then I wouldn't be a christian. And frankly I know for a fact that a lot of unbelievers see him that way and want nothing to do with him because of it.

Don't feel bad. I tend to agree with you Kate. Though the issue here has nothing to do with God. But, rather there are some posters on these boards who think they have mastered Christianity and possess a 'my way or the highway' outlook on the behavior of other believers. They think there way is the right way. Well our Christianity is concerend with Jesus and God and the Holy Spirit. Ignore what others think and focus on what you think God wants you to do. In the end He is the one you have to answer too. Not people on these boards.

John 5:13–14 Now the man who had been healed did not know who it was, for Jesus had withdrawn, as there was a crowd in the place. Afterward Jesus found him in the temple and said to him, “See, you are well! Sin no more, that nothing worse may happen to you.”

John 8:10–11 Jesus stood up and said to her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?” She said, “No one, Lord.” And Jesus said, “Neither do I condemn you; go, and from now on sin no more.”

Granted, I don't think we will be perfect either, but that's the goal we are to aim for nonetheless.

Why? Doesn't God have the right to send everyone to Hell if he wanted to?

God doesn't OWE us salvation. If God sent everyone to hell after they sinned he would be perfectly just. It would be within his right and no one could complain.

That's the Scriptural view of God and his relation to humans. Salvation is a gift to us, not a payment to us.

This is an excellent post. We also must remember in Romans 6."What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? By no means! How can we who died to sin still live in it?" (Romans 6:1-2) Paul spends his Christian life working out, correcting (with Jesus help) and pursuing Holiness and righteousness. Also, God is going to judge. I'm guessing you missed reading most of Revelation and the parts in the bible where he says he is going to judge the unrighteous. Clearly throughout the Old Testament God judge some people for their acts.

The Gospel is one of repentance. One of the terms for repent in the New Testament is μετανοέω (metaneo) Which literally means "turning from one's sin". When Jesus is talking to the woman at the well, Jesus said go AND SIN NO MORE There was no, oh just try to live the best life you can. The bible is VERY clear on this issue.

Not to put a damper on anything, but I feel the need to assure everyone that God is, in fact, our Judge, among many other things. Let me post a few verses for you about that. (And know, there are hundreds of verses over this, by which, I am only posting a handful.)

"For the LORD is our judge, the LORD is our lawgiver, the LORD is our king; it is he who will save us." -Isaiah 33:22

"And the heavens proclaim his righteousness, for God himself is judge." -Psalm 50:6

"Now let the fear of the LORD be upon you. Judge carefully, for with the LORD our God there is no injustice or partiality or bribery." -2 Chronicles 19:7

"Can anyone teach knowledge to God, since he judges even the highest?" -Job 21:22

Now, knowing that God is The Almighty and Highest Authority who will be Judge over all, we are told...

"Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you." -Matthew 7:1-2

"Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven." -Luke 6:37

"Since you call on a Father who judges each man's work impartially, live your lives as strangers here in reverent fear." -1 Peter 1:17

Now, I'm not posting this to try and "Cram scripture down your throat." or any other negative connotation which might be attached to this, but rather to try and gently instruct you as to the truth of God. Jesus died for our sins, and in relationship with Him, we are forgiven. However, God will judge each and every person for his or her words and actions. Those of us who are in relationship with Christ Jesus, through Him, will be saved, because he is the way, truth, and life. None come to the Father but through him. So, we will be judged, but there is no condemnation for those of us who are truly in Christ.

The books of the prophets deal with God judging His people. (Jeremiah, Hosea, Isaiah, Jonah, Habakkuk, etc)

Aside from the books of the prophets, there is actually a book in the Bible titled "Judges." Imagine that, a whole book in the Bible dedicated solely to the judges of Israel that God appointed to judge His wayward children.

The Bible tells us God is the same yesterday, today, and forever(Hebrew 13:8). So if God judged in the Old Testament, He will still judge today, tomorrow, and for however long afterwards He needs to. Part of God's character is to judge people, because He is a just God. Being just means He has to judge those who have sinned. He may judge them, and decide to grant them mercy or grace, but He has still judged.

An example in the New Testament where God judges sinners (if you are unwilling to accept examples from the Old Testament, like some Christians are), would be the story of Ananias and Sapphira in Acts 5:1-11.

1Now a man named Ananias, together with his wife Sapphira, also sold a piece of property. 2With his wife's full knowledge he kept back part of the money for himself, but brought the rest and put it at the apostles' feet. 3Then Peter said, "Ananias, how is it that Satan has so filled your heart that you have lied to the Holy Spirit and have kept for yourself some of the money you received for the land? 4Didn't it belong to you before it was sold? And after it was sold, wasn't the money at your disposal? What made you think of doing such a thing? You have not lied to men but to God." 5When Ananias heard this, he fell down and died. And great fear seized all who heard what had happened. 6Then the young men came forward, wrapped up his body, and carried him out and buried him. 7About three hours later his wife came in, not knowing what had happened. 8Peter asked her, "Tell me, is this the price you and Ananias got for the land?" "Yes," she said, "that is the price." 9Peter said to her, "How could you agree to test the Spirit of the Lord? Look! The feet of the men who buried your husband are at the door, and they will carry you out also." 10At that moment she fell down at his feet and died. Then the young men came in and, finding her dead, carried her out and buried her beside her husband. 11Great fear seized the whole church and all who heard about these events.

God judged their greediness, and killed them because of it. God judges.

There is a big difference between sinning as in a slip -up, and Willfully sinning the same thing over and over and over again.

If someone truly becomes a child of God, they receive The Holy Ghost, which restrains our sinful nature, if we listen to that Spirit of God. If you have a problem with willfully sinning.g, then you need to get on your knees and ask God to deliver you from your Bondage. Very simple.

For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh. Romans 8:3

I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain. Galatians 2:21

What?

God has burned cities to the ground, commanded that entire civilizations be wiped off the face of the planet and ordered thousands of women and children to be put to the sword in brutal genocidal wars. Oh, and don't forget that time he sent a couple of bears to tear apart those kids.

God didn't rent a summer cottage at Soddom, He destroyed it and killed everyone!

I think it's fairly safe to say that He judges people.

Sin is not normal. But it is something we do as it is in our nature. However that doesn't make it "normal". With that said Christians shouldn't intentionally sin.

Rom 6:1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?
Rom 6:2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?
Rom 6:3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?

I would continue to read through Romans chapter 6.

However the Bible teaches that one day we will all have to face the judgment of God. But since our sins are covered in His blood we are forgiven.

God doesn't judge us now, for grace is abound. However one day He will judge.

1. I think instead of saying normal you should say its are human nature to sin
2. God does judge. The Bible is clear on that.
3. You do get punished for what you do. You can't do whatever and not have repercussions.
4. Christians shouldn't sin. We are to strive to be like Christ.
HOpe this helps and God bless you. :)

People in here like to judge you for sinning or for anything else that doesnt fit into their opinion of Christianity. I don't if their way is right or not. All I can do is follow what I learn from my walk and if that disagrees with someone else, then its whatever.

Edit: This is just an observation from what Ive seen in other threads and attitudes towards some posters or opinions of posters.

It's thus saith the Word of God, not people on here trying to judge one another. If you read the scriptures everyday, you will learn God does Judge sinners. He will save them, and forgive them if they Repent; No Repentance.......equals......No Salvation.

Huh? I wasnt agreeing with her about God not judging. I was saying most of the judging come from posters who are NOT God.

I believe God judges us.

I also believe posters on these forums judge too. And are rather vocal about it. Which is wrong.
