Try putting tape on your arm with a verse on it or a symbol You would still get a response from people without marking your temple up
Re. my question, I think it's good to respect the motives at least of those who wish to testify the Word of God to sinners in this way which often leads to witness conversations.

Best place for a 'faith based tat' is on the forehead,
where it will get the most attention.

If you already have a tattoo...
it's a bit late to argue.

So why all these threads about tattoos?

I think you're using extreme examples to try to discredit sincere Christians who want to witness in ink.
There are better ways to 'witness in ink,' trust me.

Sounds good, and yours is a perfectly valid view. I would not discredit those, however, who do also wish to have Bible ref.s inked, Christian fish sign <>< on a wrist, etc.

This actually brings up a good point though ye be trying to dismiss the thread I see, so you might not have pondered this lol.

Consider this.

What if you regret a tattoo, or you don't regret it but maybe just you are sick of seeing it or for whatever reason you want it removed.

Is it possible it is not too late?

For instance you can have it removed, but that leaves a scar. However, I have heard it is possible that a tattoo can fade, but I don't know if they can fade all the way because my friends that got them and their parents that got them "Re-touch" them to keep them stained. So I am actually rather curious to anyone on here that might know more on the whole tattoos as a whole if they might know if they can fade completely given certain time if not re-touched.

justanotheruser: So is the tattoo design that you would like faith based?
Sorry, just seen this.

I wanted one with a butterfly like design, surprisingly. Not exactly sure how that would go.

As far as faith based I'm not so sure.

I suppose the theme of new life would fit both faith and butterflies, in a general sense, at least?

A tattoo is detestable to God based on the scriptures and again, Paul urges us in Romans 12:2 not to "conform any longer to the patterns of this world." I don't have anything against those who already have their tattoos, but please be reminded that Satan deceives us through small things that we consider not a big deal. God bless you :)

What do you think of faith based tattoos that many Christians find effective as conversation-starters in witness? (Bible ref., Christian fish sign <><, etc.)

I think they exist between people sharing the same spirit. :)

Most of the time, when we Christians become reckless with things, we become unaware of satanic activities. Consequently, if a pastor tells that something is good, we tend to believe it wholeheartedly. This is the very reason why there is a discerning spirit (1 Cor.12:10) We have to be careful in our faith because Satan do scatter seeds/spirits that would grow in our hearts. Some of these could be spiritual blindness and acceptance of what is evil. :)

Some good thoughts.

What about specifically tattoos that are instrumental in bringing about witness conversations, such as a Bible ref., etc.? many Christians seem to find them effective.

Blessings.

I think most of the Christians who would want to have a John 3:16 tattoo are either new believers or stagnant in their faith. :) I think some Christians think they would always be reminded of God's love if they will see the tattoo but again, faith is not base on what we see. (Hebrews 11:1) If you would ask me about a tattoo that would get attention, I think God's grace is sufficient hahaha :)

A lot of Christians would say it might show they are really on fire for the Lord... Conversations about it are very likely to result.

I certainly agree about God's grace in the heart being supremely important.

Blessings.

That's the common error among believers. Being on fire for the Lord must make them know better. It must not be about what would others say, it should be about what would God say. :)

God bless you :)

Would you really say that witness conversations that result from tattoos with a Bible verse design, obtained with a witnessing motive, are of no value at all?

There are many ways of reaching out to people. I think we don't need to have the same sin in order to introduce God to them. Indeed, Jesus dined with the sinners in Matt. 9:10, but he didn't have to be a sinner. :)
