I don't go to bar's and I don't go to clubs. As a christian I avoid these places and never plan to go.

I've heard mixed opinions about this. Knowing the type of environment of these places , I would like your opinion if, as Christians, we should avoid these places.

Thank you!

I don't know. I mean I know plenty of christians that go to bars or clubs, of course some of them choose to get drunk and that I dont agree wtih. I'm not 21 yet so I cant go even if I wanted to, but I probably will go to a club once at least I go to school in Las Vegas so it would kind of be fun to see the nightlife there. But it wouldnt be something I would do alot of, and if I felt uncomfortable or if something was going to cause me to sin I would leave.

I've gone to bars and clubs, I have no problem going to them. I drink, but never get drunk simply because being drunk isn't the most fun in public places lol. But overall I don't like clubs/bars, not my scene. All personal preference really. I have no problems going there as a Christian.

I'll tell you...the moment I started going to bars and clubs is the moment the line became hazy (both literally and figuratively lol) between what was acceptable before God's eyes and what wasn't. During college I had done things I never thought I was capable doing...things, if presented to me years ago, wouldn't have been imaginable. Is it absolutely wrong? Technically no...will you expose yourself to unnecessarily temptation? Undoubtedly, yes. 1 Peter 5:8 says it all...

"Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour."

What I've come to understand is that the more conscious we are of the constant assault of our senses, the more adept we are in fighting temptation.

I don't see anything wrong with it. My sister and I are both Christians and we're planning to go this summer sometime. I mean, there's nothing in the Bible that says, "Thou shalt no have fun!" and I don't feel convicted not to.

You should be careful, though, not to leave your drink unattended and all that. People there could be dangerous.

Also, I think it depends on where your heart is...you can go an goof off and have fun with your buddies without getting drunk or dancing like you're having sex on the dance floor. You know?

I don't see a problem with going as long as you don't get smashed. I'm old enough to resist the temptation of getting drunk, or having someone try to get me to drink. But if you're a christian who has had a problem with it in the past, or even still battling with it, I would suggest not even stepping a foot in a bar. You don't want to go to a place where you're tempted to get caught back into old sinful habits.

Personally, I won’t go but I’m guilty of this. I started going to bars when I started working, at first I have so much alibis until they won’t let me go anymore unless I go with them and I get used to it, but it’s been a while now I haven’t gone to bars.

Psalm 101:3a - I will not set before my eyes anything that is worthless.
Psalm 26:4-5 - I do not sit with men of falsehood, nor do I consort with hypocrites. I hate the assembly of evildoers, and I will not sit with the wicked.

1Corinthians 6:12
"Everything is permissible for me"—but not everything is beneficial. "Everything is permissible for me"—but I will not be mastered by anything.

What do you think of these verses?

Not only do I not go into bars, but I dont drink at all. I'm really upset that the apostles drank wine in the Bible during the last supper, also..The aspostles should have known better than to drink! As many apostles as there were that could have been conciterd a party/club. Don't even get me started on the water into wine thing either! Anyone who doesn't agree with me is probably less spiritual than I am.

Mmm I agree with not drinking, but don't be self-righteous..I mean this is the nicest way possible.

Also, those few verses that jangel posted bring up great points. Ask god to show you an answer and for him to make it clear to you.

What would Jesus do?

He would spread the gospel to the poor lost souls in the Bars and Clubs.

On another note, if you have kids to raise, stay home and raise your kids. I often see fathers sitting at bars from 5-11 at night, and it's kind of saddening to me.
