I think maybe I am just poor at explaining. I am no video game expert at all which is why in the beginning I told everyone my game performance is kind of embarrassing. Just know that in addition to the levels you earn, you can purchase 5 more skill levels in addition to what you earn with each level up. They are there but apparently you never needed them if you are having fun your way. I am all about doing things your own way. As long as you are having fun, that is what counts. It is never a competition.

Whether you purchase the levels or level them naturally, there is no difference to your character. If I can max out sneak in the cave the only thing I'm missing out on is paying someone to train me for the same things.
Or even if I just play normally and level up sneak during normal gameplay, not going to pay to level up doesn't make me loose anything, it just takes longer. Paying only makes it go faster than simply leveling up during normal gameplay.
Now things like leveling up mage talents, smithing etc... I may visit trainers to level up whichever talents that way.
I wasn't competing, just not understanding.

I think video games are fine as long as they are appropriate and don't lead us away from Jesus. For example, if I play Jeopardy or Wheel of Fortune on an Xbox, those games are not going to be an obstacle to following Christ. There are video games that use extreme violence and profanity. I play Toy Story game on Xbox frequently with my young son. The question to ask is: is this particular game acceptable in God's viewpoint? Also, video games themselves are usually not harmful to lead a Christian astray from the Lord, but if one is not careful then video games can become an idol.

Thanks for the info about AC:Mirage. I wanted a Christian perspective on the game. The AC games have always tried to send a bad message where everything good is bad, and vice versa, but it sounds like it getting worse. I'm afraid at how bad it will get before Jesus comes back!
The last open world action game I played was Generation Zero and I LOVE that game! There's no real woke message in it - it's just pure survival and trying to figure out how you're going to wreck the machines in the most imaginative ways possible, lol! I'm happy that they're still adding new things to it.
As for video games in general, just don't make it an idol and choose games that are clean, and it will be fine.
As a matter of fact, anything can become an idol, including drawing and making music so.... Just make sure to put anything before God.

I agree with you on discernment and i think that as you mature as a Christian, you see things as either a way which glorifies God or as a way to be grateful to God, so things like music, movies, food, nature and everything we experience is a way which reminds you of God constantly and be grateful to Him.
I also bless the people who brought the food on my table or the voice of the singer for bringing joy when i hear it.
Another open world game i like to play from time to time is Metal Gear Solid 5. It's an over the top action game with over the top story line and espionage. Designed by Hideo Kojima, a well-known Japanese video game designer. I play the game without killing any characters in the game, that's the hardest way to play it, and it involves interrogating Russians.
It's a fun game with a lot of freedom of play which is the mature version of the Legend of Zelda.
As i mentioned, i am also looking forward to the new Prince of Persia game, a favorite game from my childhood, and i also hope that the politics of the day don't ruin it.

I really enjoy most of the Anniversary Edition add-ons - probably 80% I use all the time. I am hooked lol. My favorite house came with it. My favorite arrows too and so many crossbows. Arrows follow a parabolic flight pattern. Bolts are higher velocity and it covers a lot of ground before they lose that straight flight. They are noisy when fired which I thought was going to be a problem for stealth characters but turned out not to be all that bad. Crossbows also are always loaded when carried so that first shot has no draw time. My favorite arrows are called cork bulb arrows. They are quieter than normal arrows and carry a paralyze effect which rarely works. They have an area of effect whee they hit. Fire one into a room full of traps and watch them self-destruct and that more than makes up for the eas;y resisted paralyze effect. The are really useful for gem traps - just hit the upper portion of the pedestal. What can I say? I am spoiled by the benefits of Anniversary Edition.
You give up too early. Legendary dragons do not even spawn until level 78. Most of my leveling is done while leveling my skills. I think they factor that in which make early game leveling really fast.

I crouched behind the bear in the first cave and left my dude auto-walking into a corner. Then I went to bed. 6.5 hours later I'm level 100 stealth.
Then I whacked my friend with a one handed sword until that was level 100. Then I whacked him with a two handed sword...
Then I got a horse and froze and burned him at the same time. Then I shot arrows into him over and over...
Then I let a mastodon whack me over and over while I healed, until my light armor, heavy armor, shield and healing levels were all at 100.
Then I did a LOT of crafting. Just so very much crafting.
I wound up with every skill at level 100. Then I did a hard save, copied the save file to somewhere safe, made a backup copy somewhere else...
THEN I started playing the game.
I spent skill points where I wanted. Then I changed my mind, so I copied that hard save over and made a different build. And so on.I finally wound up with a magic build that could throw fireballs forever. -25% destruction magic on four different apparel items and I had basically free magic.
I beat the ebon knight, or whatever that end-level black armor guy's name is, without even trying. I just stun-locked him with never ending fireballs.
I had to switch to icicles for dragons though. I kept killing friendly characters with the fireball blast radius.
My gaming skills are embarrassing so I like the games that I can play by myself. Friends tried to get me to play Fortnite with them online but I was horrible at it. It was basically just a game where everybody is trying to kill everybody else. NO FUN! I always got killed right away which was not only no fun but showcased just how horrible I am. I have no desire to kill my friends or anyone else. If I shoot anything in a video game, I prefer it to be a computer generated enemy who will not have an emotional response to it, like the Space Invader thing above. I did find one game I do like called Skyrim... no one but me against the game. It's beautiful to look at and so many different strategys to try out. I can go anywhere in the game and do things in any order I decide on. They tell me it is an old game but it is fun and that is what counts.
I am an artist but I lost all my art supplies. Art is definitely better but at least I found a game I really like.

Most of the Fallout games are set a couple hundred years after a big global nuclear war. Everything is mutated, everything is in ruins and a lot of humans are scratching out a living in the rubble. The main story is different in every game, but those are constant in all of them.
In Fallout 3 you find your dad and try to purify the water in a whole bay. In Fallout New Vegas you wind up in a big battle for Hoover Dam. In Fallout 4 you were frozen for 200 years, and when you wake up your baby son has been taken, so you are really intent on finding him.
Most of them have different factions, and it's not just the big two like Skyrim. Fallout 4 has four factions, and you can pretend to be going along with one so you can be a secret agent for another faction.
I'm playing Fallout 4 in survival mode, which turns it into Deus Ex: Fallout Edition. In other words, if you don't sneak around and take your shots carefully you're dead. But unlike stealth action games, turning Fallout 4 down to "very easy" mode changes it into a game where you can just walk in and shoot everything with impunity. Or choose a difficulty level somewhere between those.

Building, bah! All you need is a bed, a water pump and a howitzer at every settlement. Bomb the whole Commonwealth into oblivion at a few seconds' notice, then always have a place nearby to rest.

When I'm able to play again joining the Institute and destroying the gangs are the two things I want to do that I've not yet.
What's taking me so long (besides all the sneaking around, trying to not die stuff) is I like to see ALL the endings.
Like I'm in Far Harbor right now, and I took everything as far as I could go without doing anything permanent: Then I made a hard save. Now I'm trying all the endings. I blew up the nuclear sub. I took out the generators and let Far Harbor fall to the monsters. I brought the proof that captain Avery was a synth and got "her" killed, then helped wipe out the synths in Acadia.
Now I'm about to try the last way, the one I want to go out permanent on: Keeping the peace.
Only thing is, no way I'm doing that at Nuka World. All them raiders gonna die.

Yeah. Doing the gangs quest line is quite time consuming to start off. Basically the park is split into 4-5 sections. Each section has a series of quests that have to be done to win that section, more or less. Also a question that goes into every section but requires you to wear special glasses that replaces your helmet. 🙄
It's hours just to basically unlock the gangs to play with. Quite the hassle.
But they have a nice gun you can get, though if you don't stick with them you may have trouble finding much ammo for it. And a nice market.
