I would like to give the definition of funny from the Lord, and what He has given to me. I was 17 years old, and I remember constantly in my heart, the holy Spirit kept saying, not at the expense of others. It isn't funny if you laugh at other people, regardless if it was funny, but if you saw it through the Lord eyes, it wasn't funny. You see, God has His own set of humor. And it doesn't revolves around what makes us laugh, it revolves around laughing because the holy Spirit has the power to do so.
I was at my cousin house, and we were ready to pray, just to pray together. I remember, the holy Spirit starts to tickle the inside of me, and I couldn't stop laughing. Nothing made me laugh, nor did anyone crack a dumb joke to get me going. It was because God was just funny, and He loves humor. I remember this day, because it stuck with me my entire life. I realize that funny doesn't need a source that is OUTSIDE of God. Because funny comes from the source that is GOD.
When people start to learn that true source, everything comes humorous, without any jokes, without anyone saying a single thing, without the expense of using others as a footstool for a laugh, without any of those things. Funny is just funny, because the holy Spirit empowers us into joy, funny, and laughter. How does He do this? I don't know know, He's God!
Some of the folks here replied with premature knowledge of the situation. And some, I can understand where you guys are coming from about laughter. But what you need to learn is that not everything has to be laugh at. You need to learn to control your laughter if it is at the expense of others. Just as much as you control your other body parts, so you need to do the same. Start to learn the compassion for other people, and when you start to see things in God's eyes, you'll realize, it wasn't funny after all. Matter of fact, it wasn't funny. It was cruel, and it could have left a scar on someone's else life. Even if it was unintentional.
"BUT IT WAS JUST A JOKE!" Oh yea? Here's what God has to say about that: "As a mad man who casteth firebrands, arrows, and death,So is the man that deceiveth his neighbour, and saith, Am not I in sport?" Proverbs 26:18-19
Translation is: God compare those people who say to themselves and other people, "I was just joking!" to that of a maniac who shoots fire, arrows, and death.
So be considerate of other people, and learn to look through the eyes of Jesus. Control your laughter, because overall, it might not just be from God. And it's probably something you should of learn how to tame, along with your body, and tongue.
