I was married 4yrs to a 'stranger' that I have known for 6yrs...
I believe in marriage not as an institution but a relationship reflecting the church and us, christ and us...
So may it be a stranger or your high school sweet heart, or the guy next door...it's the relationship that matters the one that reflects what God is to us :)

Depends on who is making the arrangements. If it's someone who knows me VERY well, is aware of my preferences, my personality and the type of person I would be compatible with....then why not? I'm obviously not having any luck on my own...lol

In fact, when you marry a person YOU THINK YOU KNOW, you are marrying and extranger. :) (Old post, but it´ll be repeated soon)

Do I get to meet him beforehand? Do we get to talk, get to know each other? Who is arranging this marriage? I have too many questions to say yes or no.

Let's get back to the sources, shall we ?

Did Adam and Eve try to know each other for billions years before getting married ? Of course not !
For God was their Creator and perfectly knew who they were, what were their preferences, etc.
so when God presented Eve to Adam for the first time,
it was love at first sight as Adam showed by his first words towards Eve !

It was the same thing about Isaac and Rebecca for instance.
Love at first sight, because God knew them infinitely better than they did themselves !

So my position is this : If God is the arranger of the marriage,
there's no better choice anyone could make in the Universe !

But if it comes from limited human knowledge and fleshy human motives, then it's worse than death, and it's not God's Will !

Take your pick.

Who would marry a stranger? Submit to an arranged marriage.
All I know is this if God is doing the arranging that is good enough for me. I don't need an online dating website, a professional matchmaker, or anyone else to do it...God is in control! I would marry would God wants me to marry because he is in control of my love story. Marrying a stranger, to me, is like settling for less! God will write my love story and that is enough! I want it to be when I least expect it. For now I am content in Christ!

Never. Even though it's nothing out of the ordinary based on my cultural background I still object to it.

You' d better show how much wealth your dad will give you before he passes away.
