This guy spends all this time on conspiracy theories and the flat earth, blaming the Illuminati. And when i say the Illuminati isn't real, or isn't near as powerful as people make it out to be, and it's actually a great tool for satan to distract Christians, people roll their eyes at me. This thread is proof of what i mean. If this guy spent as much time worrying about relevant matters as he did secret societies and the shape of the earth, he might actually use his life for something that matters.

Obama holding summit meeting with Flat Stanley proves that human beings are not 3-dimensional as you have been taught:

this picture of Flat Stanley at the entrance to the Kremlin not only shows astonishing evidence that human beings have only length and width and no depth, but Obama is irrefutably a communist!!!

Seriously, if there was some great masterminded deception being orchestrated by the government as you claim (fake towers, spy tree, mysterious sounds, etc.) don't you think these great masterminds would also have thought of way to keep you from exposing them? If anyone can figure out their evil plan by going on YouTube, I don't think we have much to worry about.

He likes to respond to posts... except the one that points out he's more worried about flat earth than anything of real spiritual or personal significance to anyone. Whether the earth is flat or round, Jesus is still savior and God is still in control. So who really cares one way or the other?

I use a laser at work to be precise with layout of various things. I've often wondered if I had a powerful enough one if it would follow the curvature of the earth or shoot off into space. Or if you built a big enough building with one that one end of it would be eventually come off the ground.

some light is refracted by moisture etc. in the atmosphere, in the same way that a light beam going into a glass of water is bent at an angle. not enough to actually carry a laser beam around the earth. long-wavelength EM radiation can bounce off the atmosphere and travel all the way around the globe though. like HAM radio especially, or AM stations. that's how you can talk to someone via HAM on the other side of the globe. flat earth geometry can't explain this -- it would imply FM (shorter wavelength than AM and HAM) stations propagate across the globe too, but they don't. thy have smaller reception area, consistent with a spherical earth and the nature of the radio signals, but inconsistent with flat earth.

i guess if you tuned a laser to the right frequency, you could bounce it around the atmosphere.. but it wouldn't be visible light; it'd be in the long-wave radio bands. gravity on the earth isn't nearly strong enough to bend light that way though -- around a black hole is a different story :)

a trick that's commonly used in astronomy is seeing behind stars - because supermassive objects do bend space enough that light passes around them at an angle. this is called "gravitational lensing" -- search for that; you'll find lots of cool pictures and information.
only a black hole, and light incident at the right angles, would be bent into orbit though.

laser light scatters when it hits things in the atmosphere though, particularly when the frequency of the light is close to the scale of the particles in the air. that's why the sky is blue, incidentally - the air is mostly nitrogen, and nitrogen mostly reflects blue light. the sky is blue because so much blue light is scattered by the nitrogen in it :)

but through a clear sky, with a powerful laser, you can for sure shine a beam out into space. in fact, the Russians left a number of reflectors on the moon in the 1960's, as did the Americans, and they've been used ever since to bounce high-precision lasers off of and accurately measure the distance to the moon. some of the Russian ones have lost their reflectivity, but there are still working ones. you need a really nice laser and some fancy precision equipment to actually do it though.

LOL but in the "flat earth" world, you have to believe that light can't travel that far before it gets tired and has to take a nap and just fizzles out. this is the only way for them to explain why the whole Earth isn't Sunlit at all times, since the Sun going underneath the flat earth would mean all sunsets always occur "south" -- they don't mind being obviously false, but the do apparently have some limits ;) that is just "too" obviously false
anyway, to Spehrical's deceived brain, laser light can only travel something like 1/2 of the Earth's diameter before it just goes kaputz and stops shining. so no go on that in his world. heh guess the reflecting lasers on the moon debunk that once again.

. . . enough to explain every single one of those "you can see too far for a spherical earth" gimmick pictures Spherical is probably cuing up right now though.
it's called "atmospheric refraction" and "looming" etc. ((don't bother posting that rubbish, Spherical; it's all already long been debunked and fully explained by a spherical earth and known laws of optics in humid air.))

well because the earth curves, a laser would be an ineffective way to square a building that was big enough that the curvature of the earth would have to be considered. Like say a building that stretched from the Canadian border to Mexico.

WAIT!! You didn't answer my question, Spherical. If there is some great deception being orchestrated by our government as you claim, wouldn't they have also figured a way to keep YouTube from exposing them with oodles of videos? C'mon!
