Noooooo! The shortened time is the last 3 1/2 years of that seven years. In other words Jesus is saying, if those last 3 1/2 years were allowed to go on any longer, no one on earth would be left alive. The 5 months that you quoted above is the length of time that those demonic beings that come up out of the Abyss have to torment the inhabitants of the earth with the stings like that of a scorpion and has nothing to do with the last 3 1/2 years being shortened, but are in fact apart of that last 3 1/2 years. Furthermore, after the five months of torment from the 5th trumpet/1st woe, the 6th trumpet, which is the 2nd woe, will be sounded, which is followed by the 7th trumpet/3rd woe, which is then followed by the seven bowl judgments. Jesus doesn't return to the earth to end the age until after the 7th bowl has been poured out which completes God's wrath (Rev.16:15).
The stupidity/ignorance, is believing that Jesus would take upon himself the wrath that we deserve, build his church and then still send his church through his wrath, when scripture states that Jesus rescues us from the coming wrath (1 Thes.1:10) and that we are not appointed to suffer wrath (1 Thes.5:9). These locusts, which look like horses prepared for battle, who have hair like women's hair, teeth like lion's teeth and faces like human faces, are demonic beings. They have a king over them which is the angel of the Abyss, which is that beast who once was, now is not and yet will up out of the Abyss. This angel of the Abyss, is the same one who kills the two witnesses. These locust looking creatures are demonic beings coming up out of the Abyss, which is the same place that those demons collectively named Legion, begged Jesus not to send them into. This is what the word of the Almighty says.
The major theme of that last seven years is going to be the pouring out of the wrath of God via the seals, trumpets and bowl judgments. During the last 3 1/2 years is when that antichrist/beast will be proclaiming himself to be God. God's wrath and the beasts reign will be running concurrently during that same time period. I don't know if you notice or not, but scripture states that the beast is given power over the saints during that last 3 1/2 years to make war against them and to conquer them. During that time of wrath, God is going to decimate the population of the earth and dismantle all human government. If the church was to be go through that time of God's wrath and be gathered after Jesus returns to the earth, this would not be a blessed hope. After Paul gave a detailed account of the resurrection of the dead and the changing of the living with both groups being caught up, he then finished with "therefore comfort one another with these words." Suffice to say, there would be no comfort whatsoever if the Lord was to put his church through the time of his wrath.

Please show us the scripture where Satan is booted from heaven to the earth at the 6th seal, 6th trumpet. 6th vial. First of all, the 6th seal, 6th trumpet and 6th bowl are all individual plagues of wrath that take place at different times during that last seven years and they have nothing to do with 666, except for the fact that they happen to be sixth in place of each set of seven plagues.

In Rev 17:18 it says that the woman (harlot) is a "great city" and in v.9 it says she sits on seven hills (Rome). The Antichrist is the head of Rome. He destroyed the temple and started the "times of the gentiles" Lk 21:24.
The "great tribulation" was the "times of the Gentiles", 70 ad-1967. If Hitler would have won the Jewish race may have ended Matt 24:22.
Civil Rome fell (western) about 476 ad, but the religion (image) of Rome (Caesar Worship, man is God,) continues to this day.Please note that the eighth head of Rev 17 lives until Perdition (Eternal hell) comes. Some call him Holy Father but there is only one Holy Father and He is in heaven.
This city and "religion" persecuted the natural branches until Israel was restored.
This Roman Empire restored (out of the abyss,Vatican), deceives the "Kings of the East" into marching against the restored Israel (winds of destruction from across the Euphrates towards Israel).
Satan is "bound" means He can still cause trouble but He cannot destroy Israel until they are restored as a nation.
Now that they are restored ......Satan.....will....attack and conquer Jerusalem (Kings of the East, Iran).
When Jerusalem is taken this time it is the end of Israel. This is why Jesus ends this world because His people are destroyed.
Even Martin Luther wrote that the Pope was the Antichrist.
