Perhaps a Pope could be the false prophet, this with some real problems, when thought out to the end, but I don't see how the antichrist could be other than a political leader, commanding armies, subduing nations and the like, who scripture also indicates is a little horn, out of the roiling sea of humanity, of no faith of the fathers, rather of his own occult religion and god, three guesses who that is.

It's always made me cringe and feel ashamed of such accusers. No matter how I may share a dislike for, say, some politician, to call anybody, in essence, the devil, to say they are like Satan incarnate, is a most foolish thing to say, without proof. It's like calling them worse than a room full of serial killers or something, and with zero proof? That's slander.
Some years ago I used to be dismayed that a man like Jack Van Impe could as well be saying this about Mr. Obama, something he used to do on most every program, thought he should know better. Between this and pandering to Catholics, I had to stop watching him. (Wow! It just dawned on me Jack Van Impe is of Belgium descent! Sorry. I still think he's a great man of God, just around the bend on some things. maybe something in the water in Michigan. Flint, Michigan has very bad water problems, it's been reported! But no Belgium chocolate for Jack, when it comes to some of his tabloid theology.)

Hear you on big business! Just a considered opinion, Jack Van Impe didn't used to pander to Catholicism, and his program morphed into some repeated tabloid themes. It seems he fell into this trap of needing to fund a big operation, in this case Catholic dollars and a lot of hype sells DVDs. There's surely much rationalization out there, that it's getting the gospel out, by whatever means, but, in my opinion, those means are sometimes a very bad witness, that we shouldn't compromise truth at all.

By the way, it's become a horrible situation. Especially with the advent of the web, my head has wanted to explode, the size of the false prophecy business. Self-promoters have the perfect platform. There are also all these sensational, best seller books, with completely bogus Bible exegesis. If a guy is smiley, half articulate and can get on TV, it's got to be true, and the authors' claims are being taken as scripture truth, in communications all over the web. Some of these guys are clear into science fiction and are being received as prophets, by masses of people. Reminds me of this,

And that "all" is a lot of people over a long period of time because that book of Life has been around for a long time, just as the Dragon, the old Serpent, the Devil, and his spirit called "it", which is the spirit of a lie or spirit of antichrist that has also been in the world since the beginning because "it" is what covers (bruises) the head of those who are of "it".

The only person that will fit the bill of being the antichrist, is the one who initiates that seven year covenant with Israel. This is how the those who are here on the earth at that time will know him, according to Scripture. People have been identifying the antichrist for 1900 years, but until one comes and makes that seven year covenant, the antichrist remains unrevealed. That said, neither Obama nor Trump fit the bill of being the antichrist. The other clue that will identify the antichrist is that scripture states that he will receive a fatal wound, which he will survive. His survival of this fatal wound will be apart of the deception, along with the miracles, signs and wonders that his false prophet will be performing, all meant to deceive the inhabitants of the earth. Can anyone imagine Trump or Obama invading Israel, setting up that abomination in the holy place, taking control of the temple and proclaiming himself to be God?
