Joel says that we will have a worldwide plague and that the world's economy will be shut down and that is God declaring a sabbath for the whole world to fast and pray because the day of the Lord is at hand. That was not the start of the last seven years, that was telling us that the day of the Lord is at hand.
I think that refers to Agenda 2030 which is going to be confirmed this September, a seven year covenant (covenant was made in 2015 but it will be 'strengthened' by using social credit score and digital currency for seven years).
This means a lot has to happen between now and then.
The rapture coincides with the destruction of the US as the Great Babylon, when we go up, the fire falls just like Sodom. Also at the same time the angels get kicked out of heaven to the Earth, you will have 3 days of gross darkness with demonic spirits outside. Only way you are safe is if your house is covered by the blood of Jesus.
So imagine demons everywhere, the US is gone, the world's economy collapses, now we have famine, and of course lots of stories about aliens and abductions. That is the context for them claiming "peace and security". The world agrees to a tyrannical government in exchange for peace and security because there isn't any. Once you agree to the one world currency and the Antichrist kingdom then you will get sudden destruction.
"They" shall not escape refers to all those left behind and all those who compromise with Antichrist.
Paul said that the Restrainer will step aside and then the man of lawlessness will be revealed. You have some Christians who are one with the Holy Spirit to be "against all" like the faithful Antipas, but they will be raptured. With them gone all those left behind will be the ones who were compromising with sin and ignoring the word of God.

Many bible teachers taught that the verses about the Jews returning to Israel were allegorical. God didn't mean literally, it was figurative language. Until of course it happened in a day, and the UN voted to make Israel a Jewish nation, and overnight the world changed. In that case they pretended that they never said anything and just came up with new ways to "debunk" the Bible.
In the 80s I heard that the story of Noah's flood was a myth, never happened. Then they discovered a town at the bottom of the black sea and they realized that the Black sea flooded at the end of the last ice age, the same time as Noah's flood. They also discovered that there were over 100 independent flood "myths" that include a man with a boat saving the animals. We have also confirmed that at the end of the last ice age we had about 100 species on six different continents all go extinct at the same time. Jared Diamond pointed out that all the large domesticated animals (except for llamas) come from Mesopotamia and that is why that culture has dominated the world. When you raise herds of animals you get exposed to "childhood diseases" that are often fatal if you get exposed to them as an adult. This is why the native Americans in North America, Central America and South America all died when confronted with conquistadors and others from Europe. But then they discovered that the biggest flood in human history took place after the last ice age. They came up with a theory of "ice dams" which is absurd. But they absolutely have confirmed a flood as deep as described in the Bible took place in North America out of the Rockies and in India out of the Himalayas. Still, there is no mechanism for 40 days and nights of rain. This was all a coincidence until someone studying Madagascar realized the thousand foot chevrons were composed of sediment that was thrown up on the island from the bottom of the ocean when a meteor hit the Indian ocean. Since then Ron Wyatt has found the remains of Noah's ark as well as burial stones for Noah's wife.
So then, what did they say? Well, pretty much nothing. Do not hold your breath for an apology from sinful man when he is shown to be a liar and a fool.

Those that teach contrary to the Lord's command to watch for His coming
Romans 16:17 Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them that are causing the divisions and occasions of stumbling, contrary to the doctrine which ye learned: and turn away from them.
This verse is often misapplied, so let's look at it carefully. Paul is not saying to mark those whose doctrine is different that what you learned. First, it is "contrary" to what you learned. The word means "against". For example, the Lord told us to "watch" for His coming. If you teach people that you should not watch, that is clearly contrary. The Lord likened this to a woman having a baby, so if you say the woman is having birth pains and they are getting closer and closer together and stronger, that is watching. If you say ignore that people have been saying that for days, that is contrary to the Lord's word. The Lord likened this to a farmer harvesting a crop. He doesn't know the day and hour it will be ripe so he must watch. So if you are a farmer and every day you are walking through the field, looking at the fruit, that is watching. If on the other hand you say no one knows the day or hour so let's just sit here and watch TV, that is not watching. That is contrary to the Lord's doctrine. However, Paul is not talking about people who have these erroneous doctrines, he says they are causing divisions and occasions of stumbling according to them. So if someone starts a Christian sect or is a pastor or teacher and they are teaching to ignore all the signs of the Lord's coming because no one knows the day or hour, that would be an example. If someone is floating around on various forums and telling believers who are interested in signs and prophecies to stop being interested, that could cause an occasion of stumbling. These are the ones we are to mark and to turn away from. He doesn't say debate, doesn't say convince, simply turn away from them.
18 For they that are such serve not our Lord Christ, but their own belly; and by their smooth and fair speech they beguile the hearts of the innocent.
You have to be very naive to be beguiled by this. Every single time the Lord said "no one knows the day or the hour" he concluded with "therefore watch". How could anyone come up with any other conclusion?
19 For your obedience is come abroad unto all men. I rejoice therefore over you: but I would have you wise unto that which is good, and simple unto that which is evil.
Paul is letting us know he has just skipped over something very evil because he would have us simple unto that. There are people who claim to serve the Lord Jesus, but they don't, they serve their own belly, they serve the flesh, they are paid, like Judas, to betray believers. Satanists have infiltrated the board of directors of many large "mega churches" in order to influence what is and what is not taught. They want to deceive as many as possible concerning Antichrist and to do that they need to silence the pastors and churches talking about the end times and the prophecies and signs.
20 And the God of peace shall bruise Satan under your feet shortly.

Anyone ever hear of a worldwide shutdown due to a pandemic? No. We had parts of cities shut down temporarily in 1918-1919, we had a few cities with mask mandates. But we never saw what we saw in 2020 in human history.
3 Tell ye your children of it, and let your children tell their children, and their children another generation. 4 That which the palmerworm hath left hath the locust eaten; and that which the locust hath left hath the cankerworm eaten; and that which the cankerworm hath left hath the caterpiller eaten.
Palmerworm, locust, cankerworm and caterpillar eat at different times in the season and different agricultural products. Some attack trees, others attack crops. This is describing a comprehensive attack on the agricultural economy.
5 Awake, ye drunkards, and weep; and howl, all ye drinkers of wine, because of the new wine; for it is cut off from your mouth. 6 For a nation is come up upon my land, strong, and without number, whose teeth are the teeth of a lion, and he hath the cheek teeth of a great lion. 7 He hath laid my vine waste, and barked my fig tree: he hath made it clean bare, and cast it away; the branches thereof are made white.
This is figurative language, they eat up everything with powerful teeth, like a lion. But he isn't talking about a nation of lions, nor is he talking about four kinds of insects. Lions would not eat bark from fig trees and would not destroy the vines in a vineyard. So far he has used three different analogies, four kinds of insect, a warring nation, and lions.
8 Lament like a virgin girded with sackcloth for the husband of her youth. 9 The meat offering and the drink offering is cut off from the house of the Lord; the priests, the Lord's ministers, mourn.
Not only so but the houses of worship are also cut off.
10 The field is wasted, the land mourneth; for the corn is wasted: the new wine is dried up, the oil languisheth. 11 Be ye ashamed, O ye husbandmen; howl, O ye vinedressers, for the wheat and for the barley; because the harvest of the field is perished. 12 The vine is dried up, and the fig tree languisheth; the pomegranate tree, the palm tree also, and the apple tree, even all the trees of the field, are withered: because joy is withered away from the sons of men.
Now it is even weirder, he isn't blaming the insects, the army, the lions, he is saying the farmers should be ashamed.
13 Gird yourselves, and lament, ye priests: howl, ye ministers of the altar: come, lie all night in sackcloth, ye ministers of my God: for the meat offering and the drink offering is withholden from the house of your God.
Not only so but he says the offerings to the house of God are being held back.
14 Sanctify ye a fast, call a solemn assembly, gather the elders and all the inhabitants of the land into the house of the Lord your God, and cry unto the Lord, 15 Alas for the day! for the day of the Lord is at hand, and as a destruction from the Almighty shall it come. 16 Is not the meat cut off before our eyes, yea, joy and gladness from the house of our God?
Let's summarize what is described so far, because this is what we will see as a warning that the Day of the Lord is at hand.

Whatever is happening is perplexing. What happened to the fields? What happened to the pastures? What is going on with the herds?
19 O Lord, to thee will I cry: for the fire hath devoured the pastures of the wilderness, and the flame hath burned all the trees of the field.
Now it seems like he is talking about fires burning up the fields.
20 The beasts of the field cry also unto thee: for the rivers of waters are dried up, and the fire hath devoured the pastures of the wilderness.
Now it seems like he is describing a drought.
However, it isn't a drought we have seen that many times, it isn't a fire, we have seen that many times, it isn't insects, it isn't an army, it is something that we never saw before and it is perplexing.

Whatever is happening is perplexing. What happened to the fields? What happened to the pastures? What is going on with the herds?
19 O Lord, to thee will I cry: for the fire hath devoured the pastures of the wilderness, and the flame hath burned all the trees of the field.
Now it seems like he is talking about fires burning up the fields.
20 The beasts of the field cry also unto thee: for the rivers of waters are dried up, and the fire hath devoured the pastures of the wilderness.
Now it seems like he is describing a drought.
