The last few months I’ve been seeing more and more people talk about being preppers, or becoming one, at least in the Youtube world and on Facebook. (For those who don’t know what a Prepper is, it’s someone who is preparing for a mega disaster.) Some, are prepping for nuclear disaster, others for a meteorite. Other’s for economic failure. Some of these preppers end up storing foods that would last them for years. And to some extent, I do understand their view point. I mean, preparing for something that could happen in the future is not a bad idea. But there is a point, I think where one can get carried away too far. I keep thinking as I see either shows about preppers and videos that they post to help other preppers, what if they were to die way before any major event or the disaster only effected people for one month. What then? And then I start to wonder, if I were to live like this, would it reveal a lack of faith in God? After all the Bible does say, “Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.” (Matt 6:34)

What do you think about all the prepping going on? Do you think it’s mainly hysteria, or do you feel that prepping is something that is needed.

If God is speaking to you all Noah - style..then by all means prep yer' buns off...but if yer' preppin' out of fear 'cause of the zombie apocalypse or that the antichrist might mess with yer' canned corn supply by having you get the mark, then I'd say yer' just living in fear, which is not putting yer' trust in God.
Never hurts to have a few bottles of water & some toilet paper around though. Just in case Powemm & markum swing by yer cob home & abduct you for one of their evangelical camping trips. KOOOM BY YAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

I don't know what I believe about the rapture, so I don't know if I should be "prepping" or not. I do think it's always a good idea to be prepared for a disaster, especially when you've got little ones like I do.

Hmm. My husband and I are "prepped" as far as having a couple different places we can go, the means to get there through just about anything, and ways to protect ourselves and our children. Beyond that, we aren't even sure really where to begin.

Good question viloa .. Um I look at everything .. I'm actually a gatherer of information .. I look at things from many different vantage points...I don't believe God wants me to hoard up , I do believe He wants me prepared .. Not my plans but his plans .. Do I think adventure isms fun is part of His plan? Absolutely... there's a bazillions things I want to do and love to do.. I have done many of them .. I also have realistic conversations with God before taking steps or moving in any direction .. I look to what's ahead.. I also look at where I'm at .. sometimes i put things on the table and look at everything .. sometimes reorganizing , looking at my time management .. a prepped? Can we ever out Prep God? no.. But I would like Him to have some say so :)

I am a prepper. No, I'm not an apockey-clips prepper. I don't have (or want) a bomb shelter with years worth of everything.
What I do have is what will get me through short-term disruptions, such as storms, riots, etc...Think of me like your great-grandparents (or other relatives) who stocked up some basics 'for a rainy day' or 'just in case'.

Having 'stuff' stored away is such a small part of it, however. The important thing to prepare is skills.

I put much more stock in learning skills than I do in buying stuff. I can cook, can, build, repair, do basic medical care, hunt, fish, sew, build fires, purify water, grow food, and make a mean chili. Having really practical skills enables me to function independently on an everyday basis, to say nothing of how I'll get along when the inevitable problems in life occur.

So you're more of a practical prepper. That makes sense to me. Have some necessaries for the "what if's", yet realize you can't plan for everything. So, just be ready as you can.

As a Christian, it makes more sense to be a prepper in preparation for a natural disaster like an earthquake, hurricane, tornado but NOT for the End Times! I believe God will take care of us when the End Times happen.

I was suggesting to my husband today that we should prep for an emergency. I don't think he understood that I don't mean a post apocalyptic zombie invasion, because he looked at me funny. I'm going to start prepping.

We do prep. Not a lot, but we get high winds here and pretty good winter storms so I can and buy food to be able to use in case the electricity goes out. Stock up on water, propane, etc.

I think my back-up plan is this: first signs I see of end of days - apocalyptic-ee-goodness,I am headed for a super Wal-Mart & digging in there. They have it all & living in Maine,I'll be surrounded by enough good 'ol boys to protect me. LOL

Loo what you should do is buils a solar paneled generator there way too expensive to buy but you can make one for 300 all you need is the panel it connects to the chargecontoler then connect that to a deep cycle battery and attach an inverter to the battery and bingo you have electricity. Gas we be impossible to get but all your power will come from the sun

I know someone who is a prepper. They have a small stockpile of canned goods and the like in case of an economic disaster. I saw said stockpile and pretty much thought that it wouldn't last but a week or two. So, once they run through that, what then? Unless you're going to have a huge bomb shelter full of food and the like, then you're just postponing the inevitable.

So, if you really want to prepare for some sort of disaster, the best bet is to do what NukePooch has done and get some skills under your belt. That will help you survive longer than a few cans of peaches and corn.

Dude! I was SO going to post that song! LOL

Canned and dried goods... check.
Bottled water... currently 35 gallons... check.
Weapons cache ... check.
Water purification tablets... not yet.
4 propane tanks filled for propane stove and torch... check.
Firewood... check.
Indoor garden... small but getting there.
50 gallon drum of fuel... not yet.
Motorcycle... soon.
Cool outfit like from Madmax... umm... no.

In all seriousness though. I've watched things come to place that I have had dreams and visions about. Things that God has spoken and warned of. All coming to pass. Prepping, but not fearfully... obediently. Watch and pray... watch and pray.

I was all into this and then I remembered...
[SUP]29 [/SUP]Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:

Of course it says after the tribulation so sounds like it would work for awhile.
