Is God only one God? Is God two? God and Holy Spirit Is God three? God, Son and Holy Spirit

This thread should not cause problems, name calling, sarcasm.... Please do not post any of it.

God is not a God of confusion. His Word should be enough for this topic.

This must be the most debated topic on this site, with much of the information repeated.

A person truly searching needs to know what the Bible says, without man's comments on what they mean.

Can anyone do this? Take this CHALLENGE and LET THE SCRIPUTURES speak.

Do not add any comment to the scriptures. If you need to do this please go one of the many other threads and post your comment.

Use any Bible translation without additional comments as to what the scripture means.

Do not add any links.

Please use one single scripture or a continuous set (ie John 1:1 as one or John 1:1-1:18 as a set.

JUST PUT YOUR FAVORITE SCRIPTURE SUPPORTING YOUR BELIEF THAT ANYONE CAN UNDERSTAND WITHOUT BEING TOLD WHICH GOD IS.

This should be fun and easy if your beliefs are solid.

The Holy Bible clearly says that there is only one God (Rom.3:30;1 Cor. 8:6; Eph.4:6; 1Tim.2:5; James 2:19). But The Holy Bible also mentions three persons God the Father, The Son and the Holy Spirit in the Great Commission (Matt. 28:19) and in the benediction in 2Cor. 13:14. Not only that at time of the baptism of Jesus Christ we see three distinctive persons: the Father speaking from Heaven, the Holy Spirit coming down in the form of dove, and Christ being in the river Jordan. According to the Bible, therefore, there are three persons in the Godhead, but these three persons are counted one because these three persons have same characteristics and are equal in everything. They are three only in existence, but in essence they are one. e.g. suppose there are three chock pieces on a table. Theses three chock pieces are distinct only in existence but in essence those three are chock pieces. But three men cannot be called one in essence because their characteristics are different i.e. the three have different desires, characteristics, aims and purposes. But even men are called one when they have one purpose, aim for achieving something.

Col 2:8-9 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.

[h=3]Isaiah 45:22-24
[SUP]22 [/SUP]“Turn to me and be saved, all you ends of the earth; for I am God, and there is no other.[SUP]23 [/SUP]By myself I have sworn, my mouth has uttered in all integrity a word that will not be revoked: Before me every knee will bow; by me every tongue will swear.[SUP]24 [/SUP]They will say of me, ‘In the Lord alone are deliverance and strength.’”All who have raged against him will come to him and be put to shame.

Romans 14:10-12
[SUP]10 [/SUP]You, then, why do you judge your brother or sister? Or why do you treat them with contempt? For we will all stand before God’s judgment seat. [SUP]11 [/SUP]It is written: “‘As surely as I live,’ says the Lord, ‘every knee will bow before me; every tongue will acknowledge God.’” [SUP]12 [/SUP]So then, each of us will give an account of ourselves to God.

Philippians 2:5-11 [SUP]5 [/SUP]In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: [SUP]6 [/SUP]Who, being in very nature[SUP][a][/SUP] God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; [SUP]7 [/SUP]rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. [SUP]8 [/SUP]And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross! [SUP]9 [/SUP]Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, [SUP]10 [/SUP]that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, [SUP]11 [/SUP]and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

I have but one scripture that proves Jesus is who he says he is, that the trinity is true and honestly for the wise this is the only scripture needed to prove it.

“Who is this speaking blasphemy? Who is able to forgive sins except God alone?”GOD'S WORD® Translation (©1995)
"Why does he talk this way? He's dishonoring God. Who besides God can forgive sins?"

It's not biblical to discuss theology this way i.e., of only quoting Scriptures. Where in the bible do you see that???

:D What's wrong? Are you saying theology has to be taught because God's Word is inadequate? LOL.

(Joh 1:18) No one has seen God at any time. The only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared Him.

(Col 1:15) He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.

(Joh 6:38) For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me.

(Joh 8:28) Then Jesus said to them, “When you lift up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am He, and that I do nothing of Myself; but as My Father taught Me, I speak these things.

(Joh 20:17) Jesus said to her, “Do not cling to Me, for I have not yet ascended to My Father; but go to My brethren and say to them, ‘I am ascending to My Father and your Father, and to My God and your God.’”

(1Jn 4:12) No one has seen God at any time. If we love one another, God abides in us, and His love has been perfected in us.

(Joh 5:19) Then Jesus answered and said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do; for whatever He does, the Son also does in like manner.

(Exo 33:20) But He said, “You cannot see My face; for no man shall see Me, and live.”

(Deu 6:4) “Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one!

(Mar 12:29) Jesus answered him, “The first of all the commandments is: ‘Hear, O Israel, the LORD our God, the LORD is one.

(Gal 3:20) Now a mediator does not mediate for one only, but God is one.

(Act 4:27) “For truly against Your holy Servant Jesus, whom You anointed, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles and the people of Israel, were gathered together

(Act 4:28) to do whatever Your hand and Your purpose determined before to be done.
(Act 4:29) Now, Lord, look on their threats, and grant to Your servants that with all boldness they may speak Your word,
(Act 4:30) by stretching out Your hand to heal, and that signs and wonders may be done through the name of Your holy Servant Jesus.”

(1Co 3:23) And you are Christ’s, and Christ is God’s.

(1Co 11:3) But I want you to know that the head of every man is Christ, the head of woman is man, and the head of Christ is God.

(Joh 17:18) As You sent Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world.

(Mat 24:36) “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only.

God the Creator is Holy; Jesus the Savior is God, and the Holy Spirit of God leads sinners on their way to God.

Now, y'all need to stop posting these "God is Awesome Trinity" threads because then all these beautiful, wholesome, godly, jolly thoughts about God get me craving some delicious banana splits with all kinds of peachy cherries on top... ...and then my Col. Brandon will not want to marry me all sugary like this, you think? :D

Our mind, with its logic and common sense is very good and useful, but when it is applied to the divine it can foul us up. Our mind is not like God's mind, we can't give God only what we are, God is more. Humans are subject to error, God created us and the world so God knows beyond what humans know. Besides, God knows the spiritual realm that we only have a glimpse of. You need to pull yourself up to grasp God, not try to pull God down to your level. That is error.

When you say I can't be in two places at once so therefore God can't do that, you are out of line.

Can't you be at home in the body and with a loved one in spirit?

They do say humankind is a tripartite being comprising body, soul and spirit and if we are made in the image of God then I can't see a problem. :)

:D What's wrong? Are you saying theology has to be taught because God's Word is inadequate? LOL.[/QUOTE Word is adequate when properly administered. Otherwise the demons can quote Scripture. See Jesus in His encounter with satan in the wilderness and the New Agers today.
