Hello everyone!
We have just started a student ministry class at my church and are currently talking about Oneness vs. Trinity. Now the people who are teaching the class strongly believe in Oneness meaning God is only ONE being and the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost are not separate. This is probably the most confusing thing in the Bible to me...I have always thought of God being 3 that are separate but ALL make up God, and God is One because they are all in one accord, same heart, same mind, same purpose kind of like marriage and the scripture that says "the two shall become one flesh" of course that belief is being challenged in this class. I believe Jesus is fully God the bible clearly says that in 1 John "In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God." It also says the Word became flesh...that's Jesus.
What I'm stuck on is is God only ONE being or is God made up of 3 beings?
I have been studying several scriptures and asked God to help me see the truth....I'm curious what's your take on this? Do you believe God is made up of 3 beings or is God only One being who manifest himself in 3 ways? Please backup your answer with scripture I'm not looking for just a personal opinion or what someone else told you, if its not in Gods word it won't help me.
I would love to do a bible study with you
can we please remember, Human can lead us astray but God's word is sound, True, and always accurate, so seek God's face and his truth, and not man! amen
Not saying thats what your doing just wanted to remind us of that
Now it is from my studies of the scripture and the hebrew Lang that "God' Has a personal name! Yes, many times when we say God we think of the father, then wonder where does the others play a part, but in all actuality it's made clear to us in scripture
1 John 5:7"
For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one."

The Father being YHWH
, The Word being Jesus Christ(Yeshua)
and the Holy Ghost as is, These three are one, God

Do you see?
Colossians 2:9"
For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily"
Jesus had the Holy Spirit sent to him of his Father, and his Father had always been with him as seen when he said,
Matthew 27:46 "
And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?"

His Father was with him and also the Holy Spirit, and these three were one! amen, Lets look at this verse to help us better understand this topic

[h=3]
1 John 5:8"
And there are three that bear witness in earth, the spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one."[/h]
I think we all can agree that we need all three things to 'live' We need Water, blood and a Spirit, these things are different but still are one, because without Water, tho Blood and Spirit remaineth, we would still die, and its pretty much the same if one would to say Vise versa
To plainly say, what my studies of the bible has shown is this
That the Godhead or Trinity consists of the Eternal Father, a personal spiritual Being, omnipotent, omnipresent, omniscient, infinite in wisdom and love;the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Eternal Father, through whom all things were created and through whom the Salvation of the redeemed hosts will be accomplished; The Holy Spirit, the third person of the Godhead, the great regenerating power in the work of redemption.
and I would leave you with this scripture
God bless you friend, keep seeking the Lord because he will lead you into truth and understanding, so be encouraged!
Matthew 28:19"
Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:"
