Have you ever noticed how quickly "love" can turn to hate for some people? I think you probably see it on FB more than anywhere else. :) Oooooooooh the drama. :) One day someone is posting lovey dovey pics/posters of their man/lady, and practically overnight they are posting nastigrams and making snotty remarks about them.

I could understand if the person shot your dog, cheated on you, abused a family member or some other horrible thing, but seriously....you hate someone overnight and never want to speak with them again just because things didn't work out?

If a person is going to behave like this over a breakup, are they really mature enough for a relationship in the first place?

What better site than Facebook to express this love/hate thing? lol fb is full of people who likes to show there dirty washing sort to say. Fb reminds me of Jerry springer, its whacky? full of hate, people knows everyone business, people are nosy. people get all stuck up when they interfere in there business. then the whole thing starts again. a vicious circle. Im Glad im not on Fb. one of the worst websites sites ever.

The lack of maturity in the people that do this explains a lot about why the relationship didn't work out to begin with...

That being said, when my first husband went ahead and filed for divorce after promising me that we would work on things, my mother and I hatched a plan to bake him some chocolate chip cookies with arsenic in them.

...we didn't, though, in case you're wondering.

I kind of wonder if the love to hate in 60 seconds or less business (that might be exaggerating...a little...) is in direct proportion to how over-the-top the initial infatuation is? Like, if a girl falls INSTANTLY head over heels for a guy, and the whole first month or so with him is all roses and champagne, but then he hurts her feelings...she INSTANTLY hates him...? Does that make any sense at all?

Well Jules, you know that for most people in the world "love" is a very conditional thing. You do/say this the right way, then I'll reward you,do something that displeases me,well then I'm gonna make sure everyone knows how terrible you are. Seems like on face book too it's all about the drama. I'm not saying there aren't legit people using face book to stay in contact with friends & family that they can't see on a regular basis, but it does seem much of the younger crowd abuses it. I'm no longer on there, just because I think face book as a company are just too darn nosy. They don't need to know that much about my personal life. Besides,I got in touch with the people I wanted to...we exchanged our current info & that's that.

That's FB shouldn't be used as a dating site.

No. In fact they probably shouldn't even be allowed to have a pet. :p

Really?

*Sadly gives the gerbil back to a fully responsible adult.*

But... but... I was really becoming attached to Mr. Perkins. I guess this means I'm gonna have to Unfriend him, too... and put my relationship status back to, "Petlessly Single."

I heard a prediction that FB will be more dead than Myspace in about 5 years.
I'd say it can't be soon enough, but shudder to think about what might replace it.

Love doesn't just transform into hatred...hurt feelings and grief can drive a lot of impulsive, irrational behavior.

I honestly don't think it was ever really love in the first place for one party or the other.

You only have to give the gerbil back if you posted how incredibly awesome-amazing-gorgeous your bf was one day and then posted how he is a no-good-insensitive-heartless-bastard the next day.

Sure, he may have been a jerk now and then... but surely he didn't deserve to be made into cat food.

Then again. HA HA HA, you stupid gerbil!!! That's what you get!!! You're goin' DOWN!!!

(Do I sound like a professional FB basher now... too bad I'm one of the last three people on earth who isn't on FB! :))

Yeah, the reason for editing is supposed to read, "I'm sure I'd have better luck with a gerbil as a pet than with a real live boyFRIEND", but it cut me off before I could finish the thought.

A real live boy??? Great. Now there are going to be Facebook rumors that Seoulsearch is dating Pinocchio...

This doesn't really touch on romantic love, but I thought it was still pertinent:

Luke 23:34
Jesus said, “Father, forgive them. They don’t know what they are doing.”

Jesus reminds us that there's a bigger picture. It's a little easier to cope with someone's failings, or forgive someone who's hurt you if you can remind yourself of the bigger picture, and grasp that there's only One who won't fail you.

Proverbs 4:23
Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.

I don't condone airing out dirty laundry on Facebook, and those people who can't look past their anger and grief and hurt...sure, it displays a lack of maturity. Who knows whether it was or wasn't love, maybe it's enough that they think they're in love (an extreme example, but just look at all the warped people on shows like Snapped or Cheaters)...that's why we can't settle for just anyone who comes along... losing someone that you're invested in emotionally... it blows.

I'm pretty terrible at being a shoulder to cry on when someone's having breakup issues, and I sound like a broken record, but I try to emphasize just doing your best with whatever cards you've been dealt (one's best not including blowing up personal issues for the world to see). Truthfully, I can't change someone's heart, but hopefully I can provide a reminder that there's a bigger picture, a kick in the rear before a dive off the deep end, and a prayer that whoever it is can get to a place where they're able to forgive and look to God.
