Just a question as it may provide statistical evidence.

God does not require statistical evidence in any matter. There can be no vote of man for what is His truth. Whether a brother believes the same as another has no bearing on his faith or his salvation. Yes or no. Some are kept in the dark about certain issues, while others are enlightened. I came from posting this in the tongues thread elsewhere but it also applies here, to you and to me.

Rom 14:1
Him that is weak in the faith receive ye, but not to doubtful disputations.

Rom 14:2
For one believeth that he may eat all things: another, who is weak, eateth herbs.

Rom 14:3
Let not him that eateth despise him that eateth not; and let not him which eateth not judge him that eateth: for God hath received him.

Rom 14:4
Who art thou that judgest another man's servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand.

May"? I do not know the intent in this word with in the sentence, and for statistics whose observation?
Within the past almost year on this site I have expressed limitedly of my personal in this matter, I have read many ill beliefs against but not any ill attitudes or beliefs for, because of this observation I would not personally invite a dog or swine attitude belief n anyone that have any degree of faith in the Lord Jesus, in the respect of Agape for all I will not give or cast this to be used to have a predispo. to me or to others, for the sake of Agape that binds us I will not concede to answer.

Well ive said a number of times, but really a poll would be better, I also fear this could cause more division.

sure, as long as the SPIRIT gives the utterance. I don't do it on my own accord, that would be sinful.

I haven't been given that gift, but may I put a vote in for my girlfriend? I haven't heard her for she says it is very private with her. She praises God that she was given this ability. She says it expresses feelings and devotion to God that she can't express with words and brings her closer to God.

I can't imagine why this simple question should bring out responses of people thoughts about it. God says it is a gift. He gave it sort of wholesale when he gave the gift of the spirit to all who believed as told in Acts. I love the Lord with all my heart and soul, and God hasn't given this gift to me.

Kenisyes, would you want to tell us what it is like, or is that too private a question?

If we define this biblically as seen in 1 Cor 14 it is safe to virtually no one.

I just reread 1 Cor 14, and I don't see a thing about this being an unsafe gift. It says other gifts are better, and I get it is OK that I don't have it (thank my Lord) but if it is a gift and it comes from God, even if other gifts are better I don't see how this says not to allow God to give it to us.

Well I should read my own posts as I omitted the word 'say' in the phrase. It is safe to say no one is speaking in tongues and meeting the criteria of 1 Cor 14. No intention that the gift was unsafe. Sign gifts, like tongues, were given as a witness to the Jews who were unbelievers. 1 Cor 14:22 Signs in general were for the Jews and wisdom for the Gentiles. 1 Cor 1:22
The warnings of 1 Cor 12-14 were because of confusion and disorder in the church related to the abuse of these gifts.

Need clarification if possible.

I never knew about this speaking in tongues that is in the bible. Two years ago I rec'd the filling of the Holy Spirit with healing. Because I was blown away by all of this I did research to figure out what happened to me....as it was awesome and confusing for me.

I researched the internet and came across a site where a man showed what it meant to have the gift of speaking in tongues. I practically fell over. I didn't understand what he was saying but I don't understand what I am saying either. It sounds like gibberish. I did learn that we are not to do it unless in church or something. I just don't do it.

The question is that as I watched the video I remembered doing/talking like that to myself as an 8 year old. I remember just thinking I was making up a language. Looking back it all seems odd to me. Since I have heard that no one can speak in tongues if there not saved or filled. At 8 years old I didn't know God or Jesus.

I was also told that if someone is not saved or filled or both, they can't even get the gibberish off their tongues. So I tested some family members that aren't saved without telling them what I was doing and they couldn't do what I always thought was gibberish.

I know this post sounds like stupid gibberish and maybe I am just over thinking this, but I was just wondering what if anything anyone thought.

The only tongue I speak these days is English.

I can pretend to speak in tongues, but I only do it to scare my cats when they're being bad.

.. You'll be better off if you asked: What happened to the letter every detail , on Pentecost day? What did Christ say about it. And what is the subject, or article being taught in places where, the ''unknown tongue of today'' is drawn from... What does the words unknown, known and tongue mean in the Greek is was taken ? . Hold people to the a standard of the Bibles written account. to document what they say, in following the subject matter of the whole chapter, book , whatever. Ask yourself can you follow?. and are you willing to put in time to read the Bible's take on it?

the lord said to the apostles to wait and he would send the "comforter",,,,,,now they did as we know. and then "book of acts" when the spirit descended upon them "they spoke in tongues",,,,,,,before this they did not...,,,,,,,,,,, .the comforter can speak in tongues",,,,,ill say it bluntly,,,,,,,,,peter cant,Paul cant,,,,john cant,,,,you can go down the list. no human being can speak in tongues.,,,,,,, but the spirit sent to anyone by the promise that Christ spoke of ,,,,,,,,,,,,"can speak in tongues thru anyone".... nowadays we measure each other on a scale from one to ten,,,,,,,,,most holy to less holy. can he raise the dead?,,,speak in tongues?,,,heal the sick?,,,on their best day no man can,,,,,but every day the lord can. here is the part of the puzzle least looked at,,,, seeing that none can preform miracles, but god can thru any,if say Lucifer,,,,,,,came into your midst and god thru him raised the dead,,,"would you not believe him an holy man?",,,,if Lucifer healed the sick?,,,,made the blind see?????,,it is given by measure you see to avoid this confusion. where there is purpose, love it is given in the behalf of you all. i am a very weak man,,i am ugly, all of mankind shakes their heads at me when they contemplate weather i am godly or no.,,,,,,i am only afraid of the two god,,,and in the mornings i tremble and cry as i shave,i try to make me look as and holy man but i cannot,my god save me from me,,the devil he can save me from. the falling trees he can hold back.,,,,,,but the ugly, iamsoandso?,,,,,,oh god save me from me. now how will you believe an miracle,,,,,,,that the lord preformed thru me? i begin to pray, standing up-right in my mind, then some where in the midst i am distracted and find my own mind wanders off and i catch my self thinking of other things(right in the middle of my prayer to god),,,,,are all of you immune from this are all of you weak just like me? the same way i ask god to forgive me,,,when i look at mine own self in the mirror. "this is the forgiveness i forgive all of you with,,,",,,the one i cry about when i can bridle my mind.,,,,the tool of judgment is a mirror.. the whole utter, forgiveness, love,,,,,,the whole arm-sweeping gathering hug i pray the lord picks me up with, i pray for you.contemplate the fathers will,,,,his will is that you love. who knows the will of the father?,,,his will is love. satins,,,seek the name of the father,to say it backwards,,,,that is they believe if so they say it backwards the whole kingdom will come apart.,,,,,,,,,,you cannot say his name with any language of men. alphabets do not apply.,,,,,,,,, well,,,,the lord said he has a and no one knew it lest it was given,,,,,,that his father gave him a new name,,,,,and that he would give an new name to as many as given,,,,,,,spirits lips,,,,they are none of the words of men,,,,,,,,,,,

THATis a lie from the pit of hell.
I surely want nothing at all to do with hell.

RedTent: “Iget it is OK that I don't have it (thank my Lord) but if it is a giftand it comes from God,
I am thanking my Lord that He says I'm OK even if I don't have it, I am NOT thanking Him for not having the gift. Sounds as if you have condemned me for not having it? Oh well, God doesn't.
