it takes a lot of ___'s to say what you feel & believe even if it means getting attacked for it later on. Everyone has a piece of God's puzzle, why do you think the bible says "do not forsake the assembly of the brethren?????? Church is for US to unite..come together ,build one another up...exhort...praise 1 God...1 Lord..1 salvation....well you know what i'm sayin'.

there is an in crowd?

I get not wanting to have the attention. the thread about me make me uncomfortable (my first thought was Blain, you really shouldn't have cuz I doubt that many people in the Single forums even knows me. I don't really spend that much time here, just pop in cuz this crowd tends to have a sense of humor where the Bible discussion folks tend to frown on too much joviality)

however I recognize that so do awards and having to make speeches but a very wise person told me once we have to learn how to accept other people's love and appreciation with humbleness and good grace.

everyone expresses themselves differently.

I don't drop compliments on demand, but if someone is having a bad day I will try and encourage them with things I know are true about them. If I don't know them that well I'll pray for them, because that is what God has taught me to do.

to me it doesn't matter if you do it privately or publically because no matter who else in the world is watching you. God always sees.

i think good things should be allowed to shine but negative things should be prayed about before being made public.

I also think Seatbelt has a right to express what he feels and his reasoning behind it.

If we don't communicate about things that make us uncomfortable we can't really address why they make us uncomfortable or expect those who are trying to get to know us to stop repeating those actions.

most people i know have triggers or buttons that make them uneasy or just plain mad or annoyed. I have a few of my own that those close to me know (unfortunately my brothers know and like to repeat annoying actions over and over again)

however how we deal with it teaches us patience and love and kindness and forgiveness. Sometimes God places the really aggravating person in our life as a test to see how well we have learned to walk with the Spirit and to be a testimony of love to that person or someone we don't even realize is watching.

*** as for the correlation between those who have posted or appear to be offended by Seatbelt's post (which I'm not but some might think from my words I am) and having threads started about them, its easy to explain.

those are the people who know Blain or have conversations with him, and they are the ones he knows and so they come to mind for him to start threads about them or they have been touched or encouraged by the thread movement he started.

I hate for people to feel excluded, but then there is the issue of these threads offending people, so what should people do?

create more threads to try and include more people?

or stop creating threads so as not to offend more people?

i guess each person will have to pray about it and do as God places in their heart to do. though a pm to the person you plan on nominating for a thread might be wise so that you can be sure that the won't be totally embrassed by it.

<wow that was a lot longer than I thought>

No worries about a secret prom king crowning, Seat.

High school was a LLLLOOOONNNGGG time ago... and I intend to leave it that way. ;)

I didn't vote for a prom king back then... I certainly have no intentions of doing so now as a grown adult. No worries. :D

I think all that participated in Blain's positivity movement were likely doing so with their hearts in the right place. One or two of the responses here... well, a skilled surgeon may be able to put your heart back where it should be.

I jumped in, too. I think Many of us did. We're lemmings, and it was like cats following someone with a cordless electric can opener... "ooooh a thread... I should Post on it." I think the same has happened here.

Some of you will rebel against me and start new threads, revive old ones, or keep alive the ones that are still going. Others will rebel against that and avoid such things like the plague of your choosing. We're all rebels of some sort. At some point this will all come back around again, with a new Blain, a new SeatBelt, and a new You.
History repeats itself. We are doomed to fail. Christ saves us anyway.
Wow, that's like a whole year of college - physics, economics, history, Biblical studies, and phys ed... all rolled into 12 little words.
Ummm....how is it possible to be both a lemming and a rebel? I thought they meant opposite things?

Not everything everyone does is a personal stab or a statement or a movement. Kinda off-topic, but just saying. lol

I will admit to being Naive, It's in my nature. And I am always afraid of speaking and it not being of God and am always afraid my decisions aren't the will of God.

And to be honest I am going to continue the threads because I feel God has led me to do so, there are people who need something to boost them in the dark days. I may have to ask them first or not idk I have to wait for an answer from God.

One of the points of the threads is to show people how well they have impacted the hearts of others. and my intentions as you guys say were pure even though i don't feel comfortable saying that about myself because i want to stay humble. But pure intentions are not always enough.

When I said that I knew your intentions were pure, that wasn't a compliment. I just meant that I know you didn't know any better at the time.

I'd like to be left out of the next round please. Thanks.

But if i hadn't been so naive, the threads wouldn't have been made and all those people we helped might not have had it

If there is someone you think specifically needs help then make a thread about helping that person. Making threads for all of the popular members or all the members that you know personally just to say 'you're great! we love you!' is unfair to all the people who get left out. At least that's how I see it.

should people not do things nice for others because they might offend those they didn't do something nice for?

no one should feel excluded.

Dude,I hate to break it to you..but yer' like one of ,if not the most popular person at least in the singles forum & you know it! I'm not upset about that or jealous & I hate to use the word "popular" because it's such a cheesy secular word, but you are extremely liked, let's put it that way. You even said yourself you partially enjoyed having a thread dedicated in honor of you. Are we to assume that the "popular" people you speak of are the one's who have the most posts? If that's the case there are like a zillion people who are more popular than 90% of us who post in the singles forum. Or am I nuts? When it comes down to it,we as christians should be building one another up,not tearing one another down..all the time, not just when we think it's trendy to do. I'm just as guilty as the next person for not reaching out to someone I barely know...I've had peeps request a friendship from me & ignored it,just as I know peeps have done it to me. Why is that? Am I too good to friend someone???? Would Jesus ignore someone who was reaching out to him...? I think not!

Go ahead and do it, but I have to say that I did feel very left out for a couple days until Fenner made a thread for me. Bless her heart.
And I know at least two other members here who more than deserve their own appreciation thread and don't have one yet.

I think Blain is a nice young man! You do bring love and encouragement to CC and we should all be doing this as much as we can. That is what life is about.

No one made a thread about me, and I didn't feel hurt. I just rolled with it, and made a spoof thread of my own to be silly. No biggie. I like being a wallflower, and I don't think too many people here know that much about me anyway. :p
I thought Blain's gestures were nice, but then again I could probably be labeled "naive" too. I don't care though. I'd rather be naive than overly hardened.

I don't know exactly what thread Blaine posted that got on somebody's nerves, but I do know this: I have yet to see him say something bad about anyone, especially in the Bible Discussion Forum where from time to time he gets kicked around by people who disagree with him. I can also say this: I'd much rather have a bunch of Blaines than those Internet theologians that are constantly harassing people. Drop-in this forum sometimes......... I guarantee you will think twice about saying something about someone who is just trying to cheer us up instead of putting us down.

Yes,but technically doesn't everyone deserve an appreciation thread??? Actually...thinking about this as I'm typing..NO..No we don't no one does.We are to model ourselves after Jesus,no? He made himself of NO REPUTATION. I guess we can end the convo there, can't we? If anyone "deserves a thread" of their AWESOMENESS it's JESUS! 'Nuff said!

We need to have a special thread for healing...
for healing people with tiny fonts.

Stephen63, may your tiny font be HEALED!
Amen.

This thing about people being left out...

I dunno, I kinda saw it as a sort of "pay it forward" sort of thing; someone makes a thread about you, you make a thread about someone else, they make a thread...so on and so forth. I mean, nobody SAID to do it that way, but Blain DID ask that others contribute, and if more people had, then after a couple of days, nobody would have been left out. Buuuut, like I said earlier, some people didn't want a thread, some people didn't want to make a thread, some people thought the threads were stupid. There were several more I probably would have done if I hadn't realized it was making some of you uncomfortable.

Aaaannnnnywaaaay....that's about it for me on this whole subject. I'm sorry, Blain, that it didn't work out better, I'm sorry to those who felt weird about it, and I'm sorry to those who didn't get a thread before things went BOOM...

Uh...yeah.
