I HATE when people hang up on me. It's a pet peeve. I find it to be a rude, idiotic, example of stupidity. They are to stupid to have any words. They can't communicate. Discuss. Rationally. Civilly. They just hang up. That, to me, is the ultimate sign of weakness. It's an admittance of a loss for words. Or these people have anger problems or something. I'd rather they sit there on the phone, telling me how much they hate me and how worthless I am to them, than a pathetic hang up. It's cowardice.

Have you been hung up on? Do you hang up on people? Why? How do you feel about it?

...I hang up on people when my words are wasted on them.

Don't really care if I get hung up on. Doesn't happen often enough to worry about it, I guess.

Yes, I hang up on call-centre operators and the like after first saying, "I'm not interested in XYZ. Bye". Otherwise, I treat people civilly.

Operators don't count as real people. It's ok to hang up on them. But, no. It's never ok to just hang up on someone, even if the conversation gets heated. "Words being wasted on them" is a cop out. Just disagree and respectfully end the conversation. Hanging up is an ignorant thing to do.

I'm usually polite to telephone solicitors, unless they're just obnoxious.

One guy kept trying to sell me stuff for my house, like siding etc.
Finally I just told him I lived on a boat.
He got mad and hung up on me.
Sweet.
: )

Lol this is random. Hmm... I don't hang up on people because I rarely talk on the phone. I mostly just text. But those telemarketers I hang up on... I know it might be rude but they're just annoying.

But if you're talking to someone you really like you shouldn't just hang up on them, and I don't like to be hung up on by someone I like either. So I feel ya, but getting upset about it won't help. It's all good.

It sounded like something happened to you today.

Why don't you just tell us what happened?

Hah! if only you knew! lol. I really probably shouldn't talk about it. It's really stupid anyway. Nothing important. Like I said, just a pet peeve. I probably over reacted. I just get furious when I'm exposed to such disregard of other people.

And then of course you call back and they don't answer. They play the ignore game. It's really quite childish and irresponsible. As I said, I would much prefer them tell me anything as opposed to just a pathetic hang up. It's just low in my opinion. Have some dignity.

I haven't had this happen to me, I'm just not a fan of talking on the phone, even with friends and family. I much prefer face-to-face contact, even Skype.

I have never hung up on anyone that I'm friends/family with, I always say that I need to go and bye... which usually means the conversation is over. But like, if there's an argument (which is very rare), I mean, I still don't just hang up on someone... unless they do it first and then well, you hang up after that. lol

A cop out? Because I don't have time to sit and argue with someone for hours? I hang up on my sister all the time because she picks fights. I don't want to fight, so when it's clear that she's gonna push til I'm mad, I hang up.

If that's a cop out, whatever.

^^ just say you have to go then and that maybe we can continue this later. Don't just hang up. It's rude.

But she doesn't want to continue the argument later on. I think that's fair enough.

I know she didn't want to continue it. I was just thinking if she really wanted to be polite she could just say that anyway regardless. But whatever, you don't have to say you'd continue it later. Just don't HANG UP the phone...at least say "bye". That's all I'm saying. Tell them you can't talk anymore and you have to go. No need to hang up.

You and I don't know her situation but it sounds like the phone arguments are a common occurrence. Saying 'bye' isn't going to do anything to help. If someone can't be helped, they can't be helped. Simple as that.

I agree with that. Some people I guess you have to hang up on then. For me earlier, this was not the case. In fact, it was with a BUSINESS!!!! not even a friend or anything. The ignorant receptionist didn't like my questions.

Hahaha. I've definitely hung up on my sister too... It doesn't seem like siblings should really count either, they're always messing with each other. :D
