Peace be with you, for those who do not continue in the Word that is Good and Holy in the Holy Bible can become a part of evil of the devil.
God has been gracious enough to put up with evil is because of us, to save us all from it's snare. But all of us must remember there is also a set time for 'Judgement Day', where the wheats and the weeds will be separated. And the weeds will be then thrown into the fire.

OK, then where was evil before it was found? If evil was not yet found, where was it?

Do you suppose that it was like latent (or, potential) energy?

It doesn't say it was first found in Satan. It says it was found in Satan. That implies to me that it existed all along. Again, it says nothing about the origination of evil. Evil also is never defined as a thing or even "energy". Let's face it; that just guesswork. We know virtually nothing about what evil actually is. We only know what it does. And I don't pretend to know where it comes from. I only know Satan is evil and that evil causes corruption.

What are the weeds that are thrown into the fire?

My understanding alone is very limited, so I read over the Book of Genesis before I could attempt to share my perception.
God is everything. He certainly is the beginning, and also is the end. Everything that came to be, was from Him, the Alpha and the Omega. Now, looking at the book of Genesis closely, that holds an account of the birth of creation, it is interesting to notice that there is no record of creation of evil. God made light. But He separated light from the darkness, because light was good.
I essentially feel, evil is all the falls away from God. As long as all is in Him, it is good. No evil can come from God. But all that wishes to step away from Him is evil. Lucifer was created to be a beautiful Angel. He came from God too. But he was not made evil. He chose to be. He rebelled.
However, it is also true that God did not put evil in His creation. Why would He? But that evil exists is proof of the existence of free will. Why is there free will? Simply because our God loves us. For what kind of Father would bind His children in chains? He is a loving God, who loves us despite the choices we make, for else, He would not have given His only begotten son to wash away our sins.
I sincerely hope this helps and encourages you to delve deeper into the scriptures to seek the truth. :)

I agree with you Areille....

Isaiah 45:7
I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace,
and create evil: I the Lord do all these things.

I was informed by kenisyes that this verse is a
mistranslation but how do we know the whole
thing isn't mistranslated since we don't have
any originals or copies of the originals?

Micah 1:12 Evil came down from the Lord.

What is your point? That God created evil?

The word in those passages is the hebrew world transliterated as "ra". It means:
1) bad, evil
a) bad, disagreeable, malignant
b) bad, unpleasant, evil (giving pain, unhappiness, misery)
c) evil, displeasing
d) bad (of its kind - land, water, etc)
e) bad (of value)
f) worse than, worst (comparison)
g) sad, unhappy
h) evil (hurtful)
i) bad, unkind (vicious in disposition)
j) bad, evil, wicked (ethically)
1) in general, of persons, of thoughts
2) deeds, actions

That means the word evil could be translated as calamity, disaster or even adversity and if you look up those verses in a modern translation it even uses the word calamity instead of evil. So you argument is false. God did not create evil.

Here are some of the verses you posted but not in the KJV translation, they are from the NASB translation.

Joshua 23:15 "It shall come about that just as all the good words which the Lord your God spoke to you have come upon you, so theLord will bring upon you all the threats, until He has destroyed you from off this good land which the Lord your God has given you"

Jeremiah 44:2 “Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, ‘You yourselves have seen all the calamity that I have brought on Jerusalem and all the cities of Judah; and behold, this day they are in ruins and no one lives in them,..."

Micah 2:3 Therefore thus says the Lord,

“Behold, I am planning against this family a calamity
From which you cannot remove your necks;
And you will not walk haughtily,
For it will be an evil time.

1Kings 9:9And they will say, ‘Because they forsook the Lord their God, who brought their fathers out of the land of Egypt, and adopted other gods and worshiped them and served them, therefore the Lord has brought all this adversity on them.’”

1Kings 14:10
therefore behold, I am bringing calamity on the house of Jeroboam, and will cut off from Jeroboam [SUP][a][/SUP]every male person, both bond and free in Israel, and I will make a clean sweep of the house of Jeroboam, as one sweeps away dung until it is all gone.

2 Kings 21:12 therefore thus says the Lord, the God of Israel, ‘Behold, I am bringing such calamity on Jerusalem and Judah, that whoever hears of it, both his ears will tingle.

Nehemiah 13:18 Did not your fathers do the same, so that our God brought on us and on this city all this trouble? Yet you are adding to the wrath on Israel by profaning the sabbath.”

Jeremiah 6:19 “Hear, O earth: behold, I am bringing disaster on this people,
The fruit of their [SUP][a][/SUP]plans,
Because they have not listened to My words,
And as for My law, they have rejected it also.

Jeremiah 35:17
Therefore thus says the Lord, the God of hosts, the God of Israel, ‘Behold, I am bringing on Judah and on all the inhabitants of Jerusalem all the disaster that I have pronounced against them; because I spoke to them but they did not listen, and I have called them but they did not answer.’”

Jeremiah 45:5 But you, are you seeking great things for yourself? Do not seek them; for behold, I am going to bring disaster on all flesh,’ declares the Lord, ‘but I will give your life to you as booty in all the places where you may go.’”

Have you compared these translations to the originals?

Have you compared these translations to the originals?

In the translative realm that Hebrew word "ra" means any force caused of an action so that it "spoils".

It comes from the root word ra`a` -- a primitive root; properly, to spoil (literally, by breaking to pieces); figuratively, to make (or be) good for nothing, i.e. bad (physically, socially or morally):KJV -- afflict, associate selves (by mistake for 7462), break (down, in pieces), + displease, (be, bring, do) evil (doer, entreat, man), show self friendly (by mistake for 7462), do harm, (do) hurt, (behave self, deal) ill, X indeed, do mischief, punish, still, vex, (do) wicked (doer, -ly), be (deal, do) worse.

When it says by mistake for 7462 it does not mean as in mistaken to be 7462. At least it better not else whomever added that has much to answer for.

NET: James 1:13 Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God,” for God cannot be tempted by evil, and he himself tempts no one.

Just one of many scriptures: evil is a force outside of God.

Have you compared these translations to the originals?
The NASB or New American Standard Bible is considered to be the most accurate translation on the market today. The NASB is a word for word translation that even includes the original Hebrew idioms.

You quoted verses from the King James version and not modern translations. As I showed, the Hebrew word "ra" does not mean evil in the sense that it is an action done to provide harm, disaster, calamity, etc.

evil is not a 'thing' that needs to be created...you can't mix up a batch of evil in a test tube...evil is something people -do-

God didn't create evil...God's creation -did- evil...

Peace be with you, in the beginning of the Holy Scripture in brief mentioned, lucifer was created greater then the other angels and everything was going fine. Until within himself, he was beginning to be elated and aimed for higher goals disregarding the creator's will.
As he was punished for disobedience against the creator, he was demoted from his position. As time went on in this manner there was influence and build up in rebellion. he totally became the opposite character of the creator in speech and action.
This is what and how, one can consider as evil, also manifest in a person.
This was revealed by the HOLY SPIRIT in simple that others and i can understand. No need for a scientist to research and prove regarding Heavenly matters.

Peace be with you, please read the story about the weeds in Matthew 13; 37-42.
May GOD the FATHER of our LORD JESUS CHRIST bless you in spirit and truth.

Peace be with you, 'weeds' are those who compromise GOD's Word and continue in the influences of satan of this world. Remember we were at first, sanctified (set apart from this world and not to go back). 'Wheats' are those who remain and continue in the Word of GOD, with what is still left written in the Holy Bible, then also for the HOLY SPIRIT to lead them into the full truth in order to set them free from sin and evil.

I realize there are many posts here. This is just one more. many of you seem so confident. Who created God? From scripture we understand that God is not a created being. What then is evil exactly? What is sin? Is sin evil? isn't all sin evil and all evil sin? I consider sin to be anything that opposes God. God was not created HE is I am who I am. The self existent one. The alpha and omega. A kingdom divided against itself can not stand. IF God created evil then God's kingdom could not stand. What God did do is create beings with the ability to love Him. Remember love for God is obedience to His commands? Every being God created is designed to Love God. Without a choice to disobey God, we could not Love God.

We all have computers. The programs I run on my computer do not have an ability to love me. They have no awareness and they can not choose to obey or disobey. I point and click, mostly they do what they are designed to do. Don't we know from scripture that God is life and light? God is truth and love? Can a lie come from the truth? Can death come from life? Can darkness come from light? Can hatred come from love? Satan is called the father of lies. God did not create evil. God can not sin, sin opposes God. God can not oppose himself. The possibility of evil has existed since God created the first being He ever made. I believe scripture is clear that Satan was the first to disobey God. this is why it is written, evil was found in him.

God does use evil. He does use it to humble us if we do not humble ourselves. God uses evil to serve HIs purposes which are always good. Remember the promise, and we know that in all things God will work for the good of those who love Him who are called according to His purpose. The main use God has with evil is to separate those who love HIm from those who do not.

I am fairly certain, based on the kinds of posts "Crucifiction" has posted, means she/he is not interested in learning anything about the bible and is not willing to be confused by pesky facts when she/he already has concrete opinions. It seems obvious that this person is not a christian and has questionable motives for being here. So far, this person has posted on proof for evolution, scriptures from the KJV which say God did evil and hates some verses in the bible. Further discussion with this person is no doubt an exercise in futility.

to me we did the evil, we brought it upon ourselves when the first beings of humanity gained the knowledge of good and evil in eating the fruit from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. so this is really disobedience towards God, the opposite of righteousness which God is a True, Just, and Righteous God.

Atheists love to use this argument in hopes they can "prove" the bible is false. They point to scriptures in the King James Version that says God did evil and conclude something retarded like God can't be both good and evil. Unfortunately they lack critical thinking skills and never bother to go beyond the thin veneer of their cheap argument.

Like many words in the english language, there can be more than one definition to a word. Here is a modern definition of the word evil from Evil - Definition and More from the Free Merriam-Webster Dictionary

Here we see even in our modern english that evil means many things. God is not evil in the sense that He ever commits sin. Though it is fair to say that God can do evil in the sense of doing harm. It is sad that atheists focus in on this minor issue and try to build a mountain out of a mole hill.
