Well I choose to believe in God because i know that i didn't wake my own self up this morning. He granted me another day and i am mighty grateful. Super grateful!!! YOu have gone through somethings that you thought you would never get out of, but thanks be to God, he got you through it. Now listen to what im going to say and i want you to think about it: YOu believe in air, right? Now, how can you believe in something that you can't see. The same thing is with God, we can't see him but yet we still choose to believe in him. God is not a man, we all know that. He is a spirit, a living and working one. He works in ways that exceeds our human minds. Numbers 23:19 says:God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: has he said, and shall he not do it? or has he spoken, and shall he not make it good? Who God is not a lie, he even says he word will not return unto him void. Jesus died on the cross for YOUR sins and mine. He didn't have to. The bible even said hen said Jesus to him, Put up again your sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword. 53Think you that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels? 54But how then shall the scriptures be fulfilled, that thus it must be? … He could have called ten thousand angels instead of dying on the cross, but his love for us was too great! No one in your family would go through what he went through. :)

what is he supposed to look for? some magical sign that says I be real?
LOL

It doesn't matter just do it. The results will surprise him. Metaphorically in his mind or whether he finds himself by the ocean, hilltop, or privacy of his room; just do it. Now what seems simple to you may be a giant leap of faith to another. Why does your mind go to magical? Where were you when you asked that question and received Jesus as your personal savior?

I was close to your age when I commented to someone that I 'had trouble with the Bible'. And he asked 'have you ever really READ the Bible'. Bingo. I had read bits and pieces but not a lot! And never with the right attitude.

One thing that makes a huge difference to how we understand God's Word is this....do we really think we need salvation? Until we perceive that deep need for forgiveness, the Bible is just empty words. Reading the Gospels may help you to perceive this need.

There is plenty of evidence for God...He doesn't tell us everything, but there IS enough for intelligent belief. It's a choice.

I personally can't see why anyone would doubt the existence of God. -- Just look at HOW THE WORLD IS PUT TOGETHER creation of man, the world , the universe. Every thing is so precisely fit together. Believing in the BIG BANG Theory is like believing a printing press exploded--and the explosion created the created the Dictionary. Atheism is becoming more popular every day, it's like the story about the KINGS clothes, nobody wants to be the one who stands in the way of their peers.
Everyday people are becoming like little puppets--unable to THINK FOR THEMSELVES.

Give me a good reason why god is real. I just don't understand why I should believe in god. very confused at this point, I need some direction.
Because having eternal life isn't just about going to heaven and living a beautiful trouble free life. It's about your life now and how wondrous it can be even among the chaos. Accept what Jesus did for you and repent. I truly wish I was 16 again, because I would listen to those that know!

No one needs to give you such a reason. That's for you to find out. But you have to want it with all your heart. "If with all your heart you truly seek Me, you will ever surely find Me, thus saith our God.'' Again, it's not really anyone's problem what you believe. It's all yours. You are the one that will have to live your life, find hope and reason to go on as the years progress, have hope for the future after you realize that everyone, including you, eventually grows old and dies on this earth. It's all yours, baby.

This is so funny. Science can't prove itself. And it's continually changing even it's theories. I'm old enough to have seen scientific stances change quite a few times over in just a matter of a few years. With science, truth is true until we find out it's not. So then we quickly revise our "what is true" statement until further info comes in. Then something different is true... until.... etc. Your statement is entirely bogus. Your religion- science- is bogus, at least the way you're interpreting it. You merely believe in the knowledge of man, which in itself, is impossibly limited. Good luck with that.

There is plenty of evidence. What some people want is total proof. Total proof is impossible to get for anything. We can't even prove that anyone else exists- we simply believe it because we experience interacting with them. But everything around us could be an illusion- we could be in a 'matrix' where our brains are just being tricked into thinking our experiences are real- and if that is true there is no way, scientific or otherwise, to prove it.

So if someone is looking for total proof for any world view, they won't get it. We just have to look at the evidence and see where that leads. I see a universe with physical and moral laws and a great structure. I don't believe a universe can appear out of nothing, so I believe a God figure created it.

So, who was it? Due to the fact that the Bible is the only book I know which claims to state the truth regarding God while simultaneously backing itself up using prophecies which can be shown to have come true, I believe it's claims about God and Jesus.

Firstly because God believes in you and secondly because reality would be ultimately meaningless without Him.

Hi Matt.

I can't offer you any physical evidence of the existence of God. Even if I had that evidence it probably wouldn't convince you. God Himself could walk through your door, say "Here I Am" and you would still say, "prove it".

Believing in God isn't the easy choice. It's easier to not to believe in Him. But what does taking the easy way say about us? It's easier to eat fast food than to cook your own meal. It's easier to stay single and never get married or have kids. It's easier to stay at home and sit on the computer all day than to work at a job. It's easier to make people mad than to make them happy. Do any of those facts make you feel accomplished, strong, wise? Do any of those choices make you a better person?

People can tell you how much God loves you and how He created you as you are until they're blue in the face. The fact is that if you choose not to believe then how can anybody convince you otherwise? Nobody can make you believe in God, that is the great challenge and mystery of His nature. We all have the spirit of God in us but we have the freedom to choose God's way of life or man's way of life. For many are called but few are chosen (matt 22:14).

As you get older you will find your life changing. It may seem great at times and at other times it will seem like it's spinning out of control. We all have that great need within ourselves. We often fill that need with other means but you will soon find that all the things of this world cannot fill your needs.

As a "Christian" who lived basically tolerating God but living separatly from Him for most of my life I can share the sorrow of loneliness and emptiness apart from Him. I didn't even recognize it until I was much older. I used to just believe in God... now I rely on Him.

You want to find God? How about you start by obeying Him? Jesus came to call sinners to repentance, so start by repenting. Confess your sins and ask Jesus for forgiveness. Also ask God to make you into the person He wants you to be. From there, just see how your life changes over the next few days, weeks, and months.

I wouldn't have ever believed without evidence myself so I don't blame you a bit for it. I'm an extremely rational thinker and used to be an atheist. If your really seeking and you ask God from the bottom of your heart that you want to know the truth.....he will reveal himself....guaranteed

Jeremiah 29:13 "And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart."

That verse isn't written in vain.

Once you get your proof though, there isn't any going back to ignorance....fair warning.

I think I've made my decision on my religious views and I can tell you its not with Christianity nor any other religion. Thanks everyone for trying, but the answers you all gave ultimately made me see the ignorance that is inside of religion. I feel like humanity always turns to religion when they can't explain why life is how it is, but just because you can't explain the world we live in doesn't mean that you automatically turn to some mystical being. In time life will reveal itself through patience and most importantly science. honestly the most logical answer to life is in Atheism. I wish you all the best and hope one day you all will realize why your religion and every other religion out there is dead wrong.

Holy moley, OP returns! :D

As for your choice of atheism, I'd wish it weren't so but hey, the choice is yours. We did what we could to the best of our capabilities. If you ever do have any more questions about Christianity feel free to private message me on here.
