...even though I have recently got some more brindleberry (stops conversion of glucose from carbs storing as fat by about 70%) ; I made the mistake of devouring a Cadbury's Turkish Delight in a couple of mouthfuls... (not having had breakfast), and feel poisoned by the sugar content. Sugar is quite poisonous - even from carbs (good and bad) which converts to glucose and hardens the arteries over time..., not to mention insulin spikes and resulting low sugar level ie: hypoglycaemia and tiredness resulting...Alleged 'good' carbs still convert to glucose and harden arteries over time, if that is ones predominant diet - and high carbs can lead to diabetic conditions...A little in a balanced way with mostly protein is OK tho...

...best to avoid this toxin as much as possible...

...good and better 'natural' sugar alternatives are:

Xylitol
: found in strawberries and bark of birch trees etc, is actually a sugar alchohol and tastes sweeter than sugar but ultra low glycemic index, and is the TASTIEST and most refreshing sweetener on the market. Its actually healthy for you and good for your teeth. A bit pricey tho, but worth it...

Stevia:
a herb or extracted from herb. Not as nice as Xylitol, but OK. As a herb is good to include with tea, very very sweet. As an extract with coffee, but mediocre tasting...

Fructose:
a fruit sugar, with low glycemic index but much higher than xylitol and stevia. OK if the other 2 are not available...Much nice than sugar too...

...all the rest commonly available sugar substitutes are toxic to varying degrees...

xylitol & other sugar alcohols do sometimes produce a case of the Trotsky's in some consumers. (This is not a Russian thing unless you count Russin to the WC.)

Talin (Sp?)is actually a Very Good sugar substitute...because it is an all natural sugar. It is made from African beet roots and because it is significantly sweeter than sugar, you use significantly less. It does still contain actual calories, but on the level comparable to those toxicly engineered substitutes that can claim to be calorie free. At one time Blue Sky Soda used it... they may still, IDK.

There's coconut sugar out there, and that is lower on the glycemic index.

And raw sugar isn't too bad. Processed sugars, artificial flavors and sugars (aka high fructose corn syrup, or regular corn syrup) is bad.

I have to stay away from most of that or my head hurts. I've been really bad about eating bad stuff. But I'm gonna try my best to get back on track.
