Amen. The more we seek and run after God, the more He works in our lives and changes our heart. The closer we are to God, the more we are likely to seek His will on things. And, as we seek His will, our desires will mirror what God desires for us.
Blue, I know it's hard being single when you desire to be with someone. Not to say this is true for you, but I've noticed that often, when this is the case, a person is more focused on finding someone than they are on seeking after God and drawing near to Him. And when anything gets in the way of that (and, essentially becomes an idol), God will often keep us from having what we desire, because our focus is misplaced. It's possible that He has great things in mind for you, or things to teach you, that requires you to be single. When in a relationship, we have other responsibilities and our time is limited. And if it becomes a serious relationship, then those responsibilities will likely become lifelong. On this side of the relationship spectrum, being single seems to be a never-ending situation. But really, we're only single for a short time. We need to appreciate it while we have it, and ask God to work in our lives where we are at right now. God has His own perfect timing, and if we are meant to find someone (and, let's face it, something like 97% of people get married at least once, so the chances are pretty high), then He will bring that person along when He knows it's the perfect time. And dwelling on it until then will only drive us crazy.
Trust me, I know where you're coming from. I will be 25 in just over two months. I have only dated one person, it was this year, for one very awkward month. We're better off as friends. So, I've never had my first kiss, and I've hardly dated myself. I believe that I am meant to find someone, but that at this exact moment in time, God has other things that He wants me to work on. And I'm trying to let Him mold me into the person that He wants me to be, so that when someone does come along I'll be ready for it, with my focus on God instead of on a guy. I still have my times where I'm not thrilled about it, but praying about it and asking God to help me shift my focus has helped, and I'm a lot happier for it.
