I keep getting told that God has someone for me, but I am starting to doubt it. All the guys around me are sickos well most of them not the ones that I go to church with and I don't like them like that, well I liked one guy like like that thought he liked me back turns out he only sees me as a friend.

I guess I am just a bit lonely both of my sister's have a boyfriend and I can't find a good Christan guy either, that's all I am asking for. I guess I just wish i had someone.

Ever notice when your looking you can never seem to find one, but when your not or your taken they are everywhere. I mean we can always find someone at the bar or club or whatever, but not the type of person we are looking for. My suggestion is just focus on God, and He will put one in your life in His good timing. The type of guy who will be everything you dreamed of. Keep your head up ; >

I'm sure you are a lovely person. I'm single too, and I have also heard the "God has someone waiting for you" line before. The truth is that God made no such promise. Scripture does not say that God has someone waiting for you, someone destined for you. It gives some people hope to believe that God is doing this, and maybe that wish-thinking helps them. But for me, I would rather just know the truth. God has not promised that we'll all get wonderful mates.

Romantic love is no respecter of persons. By that I mean that there is no rhyme or reason to who falls in love with whom. We've all known a wonderful person who would make a great husband or wife but they never find the right person, or sometimes they don't even find dates. We've also known people who got married too soon, or to the wrong person, simply because they were afraid of being single and lonely, or because they were desperate. Sometimes someone comes into your life who would be perfect for you but they are already in a relationship, or they're just not interested in you. Sometimes a person in interested in you but you have no interest in them. This is just the way the world works.

I don't post this because I want to be an antagonist or a pessimist. I just think it's important that we search for the truth, and that we do not put words in God's mouth, so to speak. He promises to love us, to redeem us, and to keep us in His care for eternity. He has given us the church so that we can live in community with others to gain encouragement and companionship. But just as he has not promised us riches, or prestige, or earthly pleasures in this world, he has not promised us each a wonderful spouse.

Let's be reasonable, here. What if my desire is to become a Nobel-prize-winning Physicist? I'm not going to get that by waiting for it, or trusting God to give it to me. I have to go out, do some research, earn degrees, and try to come up with something groundbreaking. God has not promised to give me a Nobel prize simply because I want one. I would suggest reading some deeper commentary on that verse before we apply it to circumstances it ought not be applied to.

By that standard of thinking no one should hope for anything then. I guess if you can't be able to go to your father in heaven and be able to ask for something as simple as a good Christian mate, you shouldn't expect Him to give you one. Do you not think God does not desire to give His children a loving spouse? I can assure you one thing, if you limit His goodness by not believing He will do that for you, then you are right, He won't.

There are others that would have posted the following but I thought it appropriate to be the one that tells you. The verse does not mean what you think it does for you, for me or anyone else. As we delight ourselves in the lord and allow Him to impart grace to our soul, our mind and our heart through humility, that grace begins to establish our heart, converting us and replacing our desires with His desires, therefore giving us the desires of our heart.

I was just thinking the same thing, thanks for your replies though they did help a bit.

If you believe that you will get everything you desire because that verse says so, you will be severely disappointed during your life. It is better to believe in the truth than to trust in wish-thinking.

Amen. The more we seek and run after God, the more He works in our lives and changes our heart. The closer we are to God, the more we are likely to seek His will on things. And, as we seek His will, our desires will mirror what God desires for us.

Blue, I know it's hard being single when you desire to be with someone. Not to say this is true for you, but I've noticed that often, when this is the case, a person is more focused on finding someone than they are on seeking after God and drawing near to Him. And when anything gets in the way of that (and, essentially becomes an idol), God will often keep us from having what we desire, because our focus is misplaced. It's possible that He has great things in mind for you, or things to teach you, that requires you to be single. When in a relationship, we have other responsibilities and our time is limited. And if it becomes a serious relationship, then those responsibilities will likely become lifelong. On this side of the relationship spectrum, being single seems to be a never-ending situation. But really, we're only single for a short time. We need to appreciate it while we have it, and ask God to work in our lives where we are at right now. God has His own perfect timing, and if we are meant to find someone (and, let's face it, something like 97% of people get married at least once, so the chances are pretty high), then He will bring that person along when He knows it's the perfect time. And dwelling on it until then will only drive us crazy. :)

Trust me, I know where you're coming from. I will be 25 in just over two months. I have only dated one person, it was this year, for one very awkward month. We're better off as friends. So, I've never had my first kiss, and I've hardly dated myself. I believe that I am meant to find someone, but that at this exact moment in time, God has other things that He wants me to work on. And I'm trying to let Him mold me into the person that He wants me to be, so that when someone does come along I'll be ready for it, with my focus on God instead of on a guy. I still have my times where I'm not thrilled about it, but praying about it and asking God to help me shift my focus has helped, and I'm a lot happier for it.

It's not that I haven't had boyfriend, I had plenty in high school. I had my first kiss it's just hard when both of your sisters have boyfriends and you are the only one who does not. But I just made a choice today that I am going to focus on God and the right person will come when I am not looking for him

Well I would say maybe you should watch what your feeling because if you get into a relationship JUST because your lonely and need someone it might and probably will not end in a good way. I mean it's like alot of people say what you build your relationships on usually depicts how it will end. If you build it on pure physical attraction then it WILL fail. Now there are some cases in which it turns around but most of the time it doesn't. And also you can't go out because your sisters have one. You have to do things for God and then for you. Also another thing where are you looking for guys if not at your church? If you are looking non-Christian guys then I would strongly advise not to it will only end up in heart ache.

you have to hold on and keep holding on. That's key. Hold on to God's promises in your life and keep chasing after him and he will bring someone for you BUT don't try to find someone on your own, let God it all.

i never thought id find my wife but god brought us together in a beutiful way. in song of songs it says do not awaken love till it desires. i hope u find someone. it takes time.

LOL well I have never looked and I have never had one in my life. Not dissing your point. It just takes patience with this.

In understand the wait does seem hard and we can begin to doubt God's word. I would encourage to read 2 sound books in this area:

God is a matchmaker - by Derek Prince
Matchmade in Heaven - by Sunil and Janeene Chothi

both should be available at Amazon
