J
your wrong "brother", I did read the rest of that passage,
1 Corinthians 11:2-16
[SUP]2 [/SUP]I praise you for remembering me in everything and for holding to the traditions just as I passed them on to you. [SUP]3 [/SUP]But I want you to realize that the head of every man is Christ, and the head of the woman is man,[SUP][a][/SUP] and the head of Christ is God. [SUP]4 [/SUP]Every man who prays or prophesies with his head covered dishonors his head. [SUP]5 [/SUP]But every woman who prays or prophesies with her head uncovered dishonors her head—it is the same as having her head shaved. [SUP]6 [/SUP]For if a woman does not cover her head, she might as well have her hair cut off; but if it is a disgrace for a woman to have her hair cut off or her head shaved, then she should cover her head.
[SUP]7 [/SUP]A man ought not to cover his head,[SUP][b][/SUP] since he is the image and glory of God; but woman is the glory of man. [SUP]8 [/SUP]For man did not come from woman, but woman from man; [SUP]9 [/SUP]neither was man created for woman, but woman for man. [SUP]10 [/SUP]It is for this reason that a woman ought to have authority over her own[SUP][c][/SUP]head, because of the angels. [SUP]11 [/SUP]Nevertheless, in the Lord woman is not independent of man, nor is man independent of woman. [SUP]12 [/SUP]For as woman came from man, so also man is born of woman. But everything comes from God.
[SUP]13 [/SUP]Judge for yourselves: Is it proper for a woman to pray to God with her head uncovered? [SUP]14 [/SUP]Does not the very nature of things teach you that if a man has long hair, it is a disgrace to him, [SUP]15 [/SUP]but that if a woman has long hair, it is her glory? For long hair is given to her as a covering. [SUP]16[/SUP]If anyone wants to be contentious about this, we have no other practice—nor do the churches of God.
it says it in black and white, her hair is given for a covering, your TWISTING the word to fit your own means... shame shame double shame. Don't forget verse 16
1Co 11:13 Judge in yourselves: is it comely that a woman pray unto God uncovered?
1Co 11:14 Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him?
1Co 11:15 But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering.
The covering is hair, the subject is hair.
You have issues. I'm done here. Think I'm the devil's spawn, whatever, dude. I'm a child of God and I stand in the confidence of Christ's righteous sacrifice.
I'd just like to add, I wasn't calling you stupid, that comment was a generalisation about non-thinking Christians (and there are plenty of them).
Did I use the term " stupid " ? This is what you wrote :" That's not trying to circumnavigate God's Word to avoid doing his Will, that's called using your brain..."
What would you have understood if someone wrote that to you ? Is it not implying here that you're not " using your brain "?
I use my brain and that's why many mislead sheep of the Lord often attack me.
Do you think it was different in ancient times ? People who use their brain are always attacked by the majority !
Ask Jesus and all His prophets and disciples ! Ask Galileo and many ancient scientific pioneers !
Are you really using your brain Tintin ? You are just defending what the vast majority believe, no need to put much effort in this, even the feminists and mundane people would applaud what you told about the woman's head covering.
Ok jinx, in fact you confessed from your own mouth " your TWISTING the word to fit your own means... shame shame double shame. "
Yes, that's you who are twisting the word to fit your own means ! The shame is on you ! Not me ! because the Lord never told it's ok for women to not wear a veil ! You misunderstood the Scriptures as many already did : " And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you;As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction. " 2 Peter 3:15-16 (KJV )
This not me you are attacking jinx ! This is the Lord's Word because you reject this : For if a woman does not cover her head, she might as well have her hair cut off; but if it is a disgrace for a woman to have her hair cut off or her head shaved, then she should cover her head."
Think about it ! Weren't the own adoptive mother of Jesus wearing a veil in that time ? If you think Paul told women are allowed to not wear a veil, then you have to assume Paul told the above for nothing ! Why do you never mention the above as you do with the other quote btw ?
You also have to assume not only Paul but all the other disciples were ok about women not wearing a veil like all the prostitutes did at that time !
I think many here has lost the actual meaning if this passage. If some actually stopped and took time to read and let the meaning sink in then they'd realize the subject isn't a veil but its about submission to God and a woman's husband.
Back then pagan women would shave their head. A covering showed submission. Yes, long hair is a covering. It's submission to her husband and to God.
The fact that scarves and such are more of a fashion accessory these days than a sign of submission also tells me this passage was meant for the Corinthian women due to possible disruption in the church at that time.
There is also the fact that God doesn't judge our outward appearance. To center this passage around just the physical aspect shows me that some here have little understanding on what Paul really was saying. Paul was an apostle. Not the fashion police.
There's certainly nothing wrong with wearing a veil. I don't see anything wrong with it all all. Amish women do wear one as a form of submission. I live around an old order Amish community and I have high respect for them.agree's with all stuff that is in bold......
I believe it is for us today, I also believe that amish women and mennonite women who use vials are sincere about it as the covering, for whatever reasons.
I believe that the bible is universal, that what was good for them back then is good enough for us and that is the way it should be.
We can also understand that just because were told
"God See's the heart"
doesnt mean he dismisses how we present ourselves on the outside as his temple as well
God sees the heart means just that.
He is the only one who has the ability to... so we should allow the renewing of him changing that heart
A statement meaning, he is the one that no matter how we act or what we say he actually knows what we're really thinking and our motives.
Yet we shouldn't use that as any justification for anything of our own accord since even the best intentions can be incorrect if they are in line with our own will instead of Gods will.
Gods sees the heart for he searches for any wickedness therein, so he may correct us of that.
This doesnt necessarily apply to mean he judges STRICTLY on the heart.
For instance judging only the heart while having no regard for modesty.
When we read the account in 1 Samuel 16 where the Lord says"
“Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart."
Eliab was apparently tall and had fair features, but not the proper heart to be king of Israel.
This instance is saying that just because someone looks the part doesn't mean he was chosen as the Lords anointed.
Our works and actions play a part not separately but together as well as our heart within submission and obedience.
I agree with you here. Physical appearance should always be modest. Not flashy and not in ways to get attention.
At the same time a modest woman doesn't mean she has a good heart but a flashy woman certainly doesn't present a humble heart. I mean I've never really heard of a stripper glorifying God while demeaning herself.
There's certainly nothing wrong with wearing a veil. I don't see anything wrong with it all all. Amish women do wear one as a form of submission. I live around an old order Amish community and I have high respect for them.
Im just saying that outward appearance isn't what God judges.
I also don't see why dragonslayer keeps attacking you. You two basically agree but he no see dat.
