Since the OP is regarding Hebrew Roots Movement, I am dismayed that I don't see posted the root of the Movement. I'll explain, but first I must say that I was disassociated with any particular church or denomination when I began to study whether or not the Sabbath was ever done away with. That led to learning God's calendar, which led to understanding His Feasts which led to understanding that Yeshua/Jesus was in the grave for a full 3 nights and 3 days and that led me to dig even further, what else was I taught in church that omitted truth. I questioned Christmas and Easter and Sunday. I found them to not be scriptural but man made traditions. I wanted to understand also why did Jesus say "he came only for the lost sheep of the house of Israel"? What was this "gospel of the kingdom of God/heaven"?
The foundation I learned in church that Jesus is the perfect Lamb of God and we are only justified of our sins through His Saving Grace remained intact, undisturbed or continued to be settled. But what is this House of Israel and House of Judah coming together again as stated in Jeremiah 31 and Hebrews 8?
Jer 31:31 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make
a new covenant with
the house of Israel, and
with the house of Judah:
Jer 31:32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although
I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD:
Jer 31:33 But this shall be
the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel;
After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.
Jer 31:34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for
they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.
Jer 31:35 Thus saith the LORD, which giveth the sun for a light by day, and the ordinances of the moon and of the stars for a light by night, which divideth the sea when the waves thereof roar; The LORD of hosts is his name:
Jer 31:36
If those ordinances depart from before me, saith the LORD, then the seed of Israel also shall cease from being a nation before me for ever.
Heb 8:7 For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second.
Heb 8:8
For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when
I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah:
Heb 8:9 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord.
Heb 8:10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:
Heb 8:11 And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest.
Heb 8:12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.
Heb 8:13 In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away.
We see God the Father was married to the house of Israel and the house of Judah. Then He divorced the house of Israel for their adultery of serving other gods.
Jer 3:8 And I saw, when for all the causes whereby backsliding Israel committed adultery I had put her away, and given her a bill of divorce; yet her treacherous sister Judah feared not, but went and played the harlot also.
Se we see the promise of a New Covenant for backsliding Israel. Except there is a "Mystery" to this saga. God's own laws does not allow for remarriage after divorce, with the only exception being death of the old spouse.
Mat 5:32 But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.
Deu 24:1 When a man hath taken a wife, and married her, and it come to pass that she find no favour in his eyes, because he hath
found some uncleanness in her: then let him
write her a bill of divorcement, and give it in her hand, and send her out of his house.
Deu 24:2 And when she is departed out of his house, she may go and be another man's wife.
Deu 24:3 And if the latter husband hate her, and write her a bill of divorcement, and giveth it in her hand, and sendeth her out of his house; or if the latter husband die, which took her to be his wife;
Deu 24:4
Her former husband, which sent her away, may not take her again to be his wife, after that she is defiled; for that
is abomination before the LORD: and thou shalt not cause the land to sin, which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance.
I want post, but please review Hosea to see how God foretold that the house of Israel would no longer be His people, and how He later changed to say they are "MY PEOPLE".
Jesus was a Jewish Rabbi. His students were the apostles He called and the gospels are full of His teachings, matter of fact, He came to "pleroo" FULFILL or Fully Preach the Law and Prophets of the Old Covenant.
Why did Jesus disciples ask of Him, "will thou at this time restore again the Kingdom of Israel?
Act 1:1 The former treatise have I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach,
Act 1:2 Until the day in which he was taken up, after that he through the Holy Ghost had given commandments unto the apostles whom he had chosen:
Act 1:3 To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God:
Act 1:4 And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me.
Act 1:5 For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.
Act 1:6 When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?
Act 1:7 And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power.
Act 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
Act 1:9 And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.
Because they were very very familiar with the Law and Prophets stating that the two divided kingdoms of Israel would be restored and they knew the prophecies that spoke of the Messiah who would restore with a NEW COVENANT.
So my understanding of some of the Old Testament and the New Testament (or Covenants) began to have much light shine and my eyes of understanding and praise for such an awesome God the Father and Yeshua/Jesus the Son of God for their never ending Grace and Love makes my heart sing for joy.
So, here comes the Hebrew Roots Movement!! What the Holy Spirit taught me through the OT and NT, being one unified story, turns out to be what the Hebrew Roots Movement is all about and teaching.
Out of sequence, but I also learned that God always had "foreigners" who took the oath of vowing to obey Him and Him only. That is the beauty of His grace, and it extends now to the whole world. Jesus said:
Mat 15:24 But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel. And he sent out His disciples
Mat 10:6 But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
Eph 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
Eph 2:11 Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands;
Eph 2:12 That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the
commonwealth of Israel, and
strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:
Eph 2:13 But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.
Eph 2:14 For he is our peace, who hath made
both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us;
Eph 2:15 Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;
Eph 2:16 And that he might
reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:
Eph 2:17 And came and
preached peace to you which were
afar off, and to them that were
nigh.
Eph 2:18 For through him we
both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.
Eph 2:19 Now therefore ye are
no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;
Eph 2:20 And are built upon
the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;
Eph 2:21 In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord:
Eph 2:22 In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God
through the Spirit.
Then there is Romans 11 and how we are now of the Olive Tree (which is called Israel).
The entire books are about God's love and grace to His Chosen People and how through Abraham the Father of Faith was blessed. How Grace has always been extended to foreigners and Gentiles, those far off and those who are near.
Any questions? There is so much more I am not even touching on that Paul taught and that Yeshua/Jesus taught. It all fits together, the Old and the New.
I am glad Hebrew Roots Movement is happening and many in these last days will see the whole truth more clearly. Will there be new revelations to explore? Definitely and so I stay in the Word daily for as many hours as possible. I am not thinking I am a teacher, but I am a follower of Christ and He did say preach this gospel of the Kingdom of God to all the earth, so I financially support Hebrew Roots Movements that share the meaning of Jesus' gospel of the Kingdom of God/Heaven.
My favorite internet teachers are: Jim Staley, Passion for Truth Ministries. 119 Ministries at
119 Ministries. The Restored Church of God. Proffesor W.A. Liebenberg. I have listened and read some SDA, but I disagree with some of their teachings and elevation of Helen White as a Prophettess. I could be wrong, but that is where I stand for now.
